Maintenance Instruction?

Postby hypertech on Sat Aug 11, 2007 12:40 pm

No one ever really taught me how you are supposed to clean a gun properly. I basically read as much as I could and looked for whatever information I could find. I've not had the chance to sit down with someone who's been there and done that and do a cleaning. For all I know, I am over oiling something and not oiling something else.

How does one go about learning the proper way to clean/oil/maintain a firearm?

from friends that you shoot with, at least thats how I learned. You could also take a look at YouTube, they have a video of just about everything.

That would largely depend on what type of firearme you are talking about.

A normal cleaning for me involves field stripping adn using hoppes #9 on just about everything then wiping it down and reoiling.

The amount of oil is one of the important things to figure out. It is really gun dependent.

Let me know if I cna be of any help.
