"MN Permit to Carry Fundamentals" | How have you used it?

Postby GunClasses.Net on Tue Mar 05, 2013 11:05 am

Michael Martin's book gets great reviews everywhere I look. This thread is a question specifically for those who own it, either in print form or as the iPad app.

My two-part question for this forum, in this new thread, is this:

As an owner of the book/iPad app, did you own it before or after the permit class? ______

Then, a. If you purchased it PRIOR to your class, was there something particularly helpful about it, as a pre-class reading? --OR-- b. If you purchased it IN OR AFTER your class, have you reviewed it often or found particular things interesting to you after class?

Thank you for your input,

Well before.

I purchased the book (and Joel's book too) and read it cover to cover in order to help me decide if I wanted to carry. Once I made the decision, I re-read sections to make sure I had a good handle on the material. I felt very well prepared when I did take my class. There was nothing presented in the class which conflicted with what I had learned from the book (or on the forums), so I felt confident that I understood the material fairly well.

To me, it just makes sense to read the book and then have a chance to review and discuss with an instructor just as you'd do for any other course.

I use my copy as a refresher, and as a nice display piece on the coffee table for others to educate themselves. :D

I read it before the class.

It was good to learn the material more in-depth than is possible in a one-day class.

I bought mine before I got my PTC to help get up to speed. Now I use it as a refresher. Very good book.
