Plenty of room for walk-ons at Wells this weekend.
Plenty of room at Mora next weekend.
Only four slots left at Rochester the end of this month.
Note: we've a guest Shoot Boss coming in all the way from Georgia for this one. Make sure to let him know what Minnesotans are made of. Well, actually, he's originally from here but you could still make him wonder why he left. ;)

I too am from GA and when it's 10 degrees and a 30 mph North Wind, I know exactly why he moved to GA

If it wasn't for my wife, I too, would have moved back to GA when I became disabled in 2003. Warmer winter temps are surely a contributing factor :bolt:

Come up to Mora, this weekend!

Rochester looks to be sold-out. I'll look into seeing if we can open up more positions - But I think they may have tweaked the range lay-out.

Hmmm...Garand, or AR? My AR has a comp on it, and I'm afraid that the side-blast will mess up any shooters next to me. The Garand is kind of heavy, and the ammo's a lot more expensive. Any suggestions?

Well, nobody ever likes a to be next to a comp.... That being said, adversity breeds character and an open-minded person should consider it a bonus as part of the experience. I recall the line section I was on at my first shoot, when I was a shooter. I had a father/son pair manning m44's immediately to the left of me, a compensated g3 clone immediately to my right and a compensated 16in AR to the right of him.
I was fine with it... Then again, I was shooting an SKS. Funny how just about every time I get on the line I find myself next to a comp'd g3. Scored Rifleman at KD for the first time even after the blast from his first shot blew my glasses half off my face and blurred my vision for the last two stages. Though, I might have broken the comp'd G3 curse at this last RBC I was at... This time I was positioned next to a 16in comp'd AR10...

Anyway, life is full of difficult choices - Feel free to bring both, and figure it out on your way. When you're looking for a spot on the line, just let 'em know you're planning on shooting a comp'd AR and they'll likely position you accordingly.

Though, if I think about it - For your best personal training you might consider the M1. Get used to the weight and the AR will feel like nothing. And generally, it's easier to transition from heavy calibers to lighter ones. So, you'll likely shoot both the M1 and the AR better after this Appleseed, with the same amount of practice. This is however a generalization, as some elements of platform changes effect people in different ways. Such as going from the extra long sight radius of the M1 to a the extra short radius of an M4.

Better yet, bring one to this Appleseed and bring the other to the next! Gives you an extra opportunity to drag along a friend.

Went to the Appleseed in Pine Island this weekend. Had a great time, and learned at lot. I'm still a cook, but I've got some skills to build on.

Keep dry-firing!

By the way - Last 2013 shoot in MN is this weekend, at Hinckley. Probably won't get many locals, 'cause some goof mistakenly scheduled it during the last weekend of Zone 1 firearms... But, I'm sure there are plenty of folks that don't hunt or are done with deer for this year. So, come up, be a better shooter - hear the 'shot heard round the world' and maybe, if the weather gets inclement enough, one could could earn that winter Rifleman's patch! Assuming you can still score expert with your frozen finger tips. But hey, what better reason to break out the centerfire? Keeps your hands warm, and well there's no .22lr left anyway.
