Introduce responsible adults to the concepts and practical skills required for defensive use of a handgun. This one day course covers a broad range of topics including risk and threat management, situational awareness, practical equipment, the appropriate application of force, and interacting with Law Enforcement. Training is conducted both in the classroom and on the range.

The range exercises cover basic mechanics such as drawing from the holster, reloading, movement, malfunctions, precision shooting and cover individual tactics and lifestyle issues that prepare students for how to deal appropriately with personal protection situations.

The class is conducted at Monticello Rod and Gun Club http://monticellorodandgunclub.org hosted by Rolf Penzel, Defense Training International Affiliate instructor.

I have shot IDPA with him and have been in a Farnam class with him, Gman is rock solid in my book.

I have taken this class and I highly recommend it. I found Rolf and his assistant(s) to be professional and safe, and the course material comprehensive.

Rolf's website (see link above) best describes the course. He teaches the Farnum method of defensive handgun (& rifle).

I hope everyone is getting the chance to get outdoors and enjoy the Spring weather this weekend. April is almost here and the snow is about gone from the range and is ready for us to get out and enjoy it. After having assisted John Farnam in February with an Advanced Urban Rifle course this is surely a welcome change for the upcoming courses in April.
