Recomendation from "Ms. T", who attended this training in 2012

A quick note of thanks to Brent Fox for his “Unarmed Skills for the Armed Citizen” class Saturday. The weather was perfect, the setting was realistic and the instruction was excellent.

We learned several individual “close quarters” moves that can be used in series to fend off an attacker when drawing a gun is neither possible nor practical. We had a chance to (carefully) practice with each other, and finally more realistically on Brent (in his “Michelin Man Suit).

Content was not so much as to be overwhelming but enough to have alternatives if one thing doesn’t work. Also included was basic weapons disarming.

This instruction was such that anyone could benefit from it. If it’s offered again, I’d recommend attending.

Thanks Brent !

My wife and I took this class. I thought I'd post a short review for anyone else who may be thinking about it.

LIke the description says, my wife and I wanted some basic training on how to counter an assault at bad-breath distance without relying on a weapon. We both have permits, but we've never taken self defense of any kind. We thought the class was really well done. There is a huge amount of material that could be covered in a class like this, but Brent did a really nice job keeping everything on track and not getting sidetracked, even though we asked a fair amount of questions. The class was well balanced between basic no-weapon and weapon scenarios (ie, disarming), and we got to practice each skill force-on-force against him and each other. We only had 4 hours, so there was only so much we could cover, but it was time well spent. I came away with a number of skills I didn't have before. Who knows, that may be the difference between going home and not going home some day.

I'd recommend this class to anyone wanting to start learning these kinds of skills. Definitely including spouses and kids who are old enough!
