This is the class that, once successfully completed, certifies you as an NRA Pistol Instructor. It is a 2 day session, and candidates are expected to be reasonably familiar with firearms/handguns and their safe and competent use, as the class is designed not to teach you how to use a handgun or shoot better, but for experienced participants to learn to teach those skills in accordance with NRA policies and procedures.
The two days actually encompass two different clases. One is called Basic Instructor Training (BIT) and essentially reviews how to do things the NRA way; organizing classes, adult learning concepts etc. The second class is how to teach the pistol class. You will actually play the role of an instructor using the NRA's Pistol Lesson Plan. It is a fast paced and fun two days.
Because the NRA is interested in securing more experienced women instructors, I do offer a significant price discount for women that attend. That would be perfect timing for the guy/gal training team to attend
