I saw an AK at a club match once; don't think it would be allowed at a sanctioned match.

Either way I really want to go this year, I'll see if I can snag one of their loaner M1's if I can't use my Mini.

If you're thinking of the Post 435 event, should be no problem getting a loaner rifle/ ammo, but a reservation will be needed. I got a loaner AR, and my brother an M1.

A great experience, especially working the pit in a downpour.

So if I understand your question, you're wondering if you can shoot a Mini 14 in the Post 435 clinic? The short answer is yes, even though it isn't considered a "Service Rifle" by CMP rules. I believe it's more important to get new shooters out to the range than quibble over the equipment they bring.

Having said that, I think you will be disappointed with he performance of your Mini 14 and would probably become less frustrated with one of our club rifles. As xd ED mentioned, we did have a participant use his AK a year or two ago and IIRC he did much better with it than I thought he would, so YMMV.

And as a side note, I received the first registration for the 2015 clinic scheduled for June 6th.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Don't miss it for lack of gear. Rip will get you set up and going in the right direction. Learning to shoot this way will make you a better shooter in every way.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the information and will be planning on attending this year - I missed it last year due to some things that came up last minute but should be free and clear this year!
