Once a month - at the Gopher Campfire Conservation Club. Just keep your eyes peeled for the next Steel Shoot. It's open to anyone, this was only my second time. It's a blast!

I just want to say, this can not be. According to someone we are all so obviously unsafe that surely there must be some perforated bodies and other deathly wounds that just had to occur, because clearly "our" instructors are all incompetent...... :D :D :D :D

Every single time you guys go have fun doing this, I am jealous, but my schedule never meshes...

I'd like to make some steel targets like those to use when I'm shooting. Would anyone care to share they're first hand knowledge on best materials to use? I weld and I see you've used car rims. { which I've got } Would 14 or 15 inch rims be good enough? Or would you suggest 16 inch truck rims? Do you add extra weight to the rims or is the rim weight enough that they don't tip over.

Would 2 inch schedule 40 pipe be all right to use? {which I have laying around} Or would you suggest a different size? Would you suggest varied heights of the targets or a uniform height?

The target itself, what diameter do you use and what would you suggest for thickness?

Anything else you have to add would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any info you care to share.
Just lurkin......

Great shots! Thanks to all those who took pics. I never seem to want to interrupt my fun to snap a few.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
