Its not about speed but rather accuracy :D

I wouldn't necessarily say that. If it were about accuracy only, I wouldn't have been dead last on the timed events. But it was still fun!!

Sort of, in the sense that any hit is as good as a dead-center hit. The maddening thing is that unlike paper, if you miss you don't always know in which direction you're missing. The target just seems to have acquired an invisible force shield. This often means that you're shooting too fast, so as has already been advised, aiming is good, even if it takes time.

I will be there, it is too much fun to miss. I might be bringing one other with me, but he has not let me know for sure. For anyone who is new to this, come and have fun, I was the new guy in Sept. and everyone was helpful and it is really fun to meet people face to face. It is great practice, and the people were really helpful. See you on Sat.

Things are looking like I might be able to make it on Sat.

What time do things start? [I'm guessing 10am based on the poll from last month]
Any chance of carpooling? I'm in Coon Rapids (north burbs), and can drive or ride.
What do I need to bring?
What is the cost? [$10 from posts I saw last month, but want to be sure]

After the steel shoot my dad and I will be heading out to the nearest public land and pheasant hunting for the remainder of the day. We should have a few hours left I would think. Anyone is welcome to join us if they want :)

Looks like I will need to be back in town early, like leaving Hutch ~3PM, so I guess I'll have to bail out on the Jolly Boys ride and the BBQ at Pinnacle's. Bummer, the drive goes so much faster with friends.

The stars are aligned, I've gotten the bad karma out of the system (minor car meet and greet last night followed by a tree down across our fence), and my wife wants me out of the house Sat.

So, to get the info all in one place,

Where is it again?

How many rounds? 400 should cover it, right?
What equipment? M&P 40C, OWB holster, Mag holder, 3 mags (35 rnds), UPLULA, ears and eyes, chair, smile.. other thoughts? Maybe the 1911 and its equipment just for fun.
How long does the COF and MvM last?
private or small grou permit classes available

Whoa, you scared me into inventorying my ammo. :)
Let's see, normally each stage is typically five hits times four strings = 20 rounds. The Man v. Man. is four hits times four = 16. I figure there might be as many as four different stages plus the MvM so that's 96 rounds, times your hit rate. So yeah, 400 rounds means you're figuring on a hit rate of 25%. :) Personally I will bring 97 rounds. Ha ha just kidding, I see I have 225 rounds at hand, so hopefully I can sustain a 43% hit rate. Maybe I'll stock up.

That should get a guy by. If you don't have a smile, somebody will make you one on the spot. And meltedeyes, yes, $10 is the cost.

I was trying to remember that myself, since I have to take off pretty early. I hate to deny anybody their chance at the embarrassment of losing to the revolver. ;)

Mike, I got in touch with my hunting buddy that lives in Hutchinson. He MAY come to the shoot, but is also interested in pheasant hunting that day. Worst case, I can find out from him where any public hunting land might be nearby. His participation in the steel shoot all hinges on what his two boys intend on doing.

You may want to pack a snack and some beverages. I need at least two sandwiches to get through a steel shoot :)

Also, bring some wet wipes. I borrowed some from Rucker last time. It's good to get the lead off of your hands especially before eating.

I did pretty awful and only used 198 rounds last time

Don't worry about only having two magazines. You can just hand them off after each string and we will have someone reload them for you. The only time you have to reload fast is the man vs man part and just throwing the extra magazine in my back pocket has worked ok.
