I'm going to make it this year and I'm bringing a friend next week . Guys refresh my memory on how many rounds per clip and how many clips I need to bring . Also does caliber matter at all ? :)

At the steel shoots you can stuff your mags to capacity and it does go quicker if you have enough mags to get through the five four strings of fire before reloading.

I would bring as many magazines as you have. Traditionally the Man v Man is the only time there is a mandatory mag change, but you will shoot each string 4 times, with 5 targets each string. Depending on how many rounds your mags hold (or how many times you miss), you may have to reload for each string, but you may have enough to shoot all 4 strings without reloading.

Traditionally, you will need 96 rounds if you don't miss. I bring 300 minimum.

Caliber does matter. Some will tell you it doesn't, but I think it does. I would bring 9mm at the smallest, but some people have trouble dropping the big pepper poppers with 9mm. A clean hit with .40, 10mm, or .45 will usually drop them with one.

Yep. And the exciting news for us old folks- Two internet trading, selling, buying buddies over on 1911forum hooked Jackson up with a Bladetech kydex holster (gunsite model), several kydex mag pouches, and a small pile of mag bumper pads. If he keeps his wits, he'll be faster  So, feel free to give him a bit of grief and pressure along with the encouragement. Worst case, he cracks and goes home crying. Best case, he handles the pressure and beats me again 8-) . I'm bringing a 1911 this time around. No more baby Glocks for this event........ :gun:

After watching that video, I think I will stop shooting.
