Wheelie-Go-Round Steel Shoot

Postby selurcspi on Tue Jul 13, 2010 6:35 am

So, here we are, just few days away, Who's coming to Hutch on Saturday?

What's needed
Consider this a gun fight......Bring a REVOLVER!......9mm/.38 will basically be the minimum, as you will need the power to knockdown some plates.
Holster, not needed for a Tyro, but you cannot shoot Man v Man without one. The trigger MUST be covered.
Round count, in a perfect world 100 would suffice. If you have the slightest idea you might miss, bring more....lots more. I don't miss much but I still bring 200
Hearing protection, if you want to be able to talk with your grandkids bring it, learning sign language at 50 isn't easy.
Eye Protection, good quality sunglasses, safety glasses or prescription glasses are MANDATORY, they should wrap around the side or have side panels.
Think of your shooting glasses as your American Express Card, don't leave home without them. We're shooting at Steel, bullets shatter, pieces of them bounce.
Clothes...This is Minnesota, bring snow clothes, rain gear, sunscreen, shorts....you get the picture...be a boy scout.
Hydration, bring something to drink, it may be hot (or cold) so bring water or something else. (personally I don't consume caffeine when shooting it gives me the shakes)
Food, the town is six miles from the range and there are no facilities on site, bring some lunch, you might get hungry otherwise.
Start Time, Setup will be at 8:30, Shooting will start at 9:30.
COF, Four stages, each of 4 strings with the best three times to count. The winner will be the one with the lowest total time for the 12
$10 for Non Members, $5 for Members. (Gopher Campfire Club Members)

If you don't have a revolver, bring your Auto, we'll ask you to only load a maximum of six rounds in the gun to level the playing field a bit.
We'll also separate out the results and if possible the Man v Man.

See you there.

S&W 327?

nope, just a lowly Taurus 608
but... after the reloading issues I had last year trying to use some rubber speed loaders during the man v man, I opted for a slight modification for this year - see this thread for a hint ;) http://www.mnguntalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=15478

I have no wheelie (yet) but the better half really wants to shoot this weekend (as well as myself). If you guy's are cool with a semi loaded either 6 in the mag, or 5 + 1, I'd really like to get her out there. If I can borrow a revolver, I will, but I know borrowing guns is like borrowing dogs, wives and kids (you just don't do it).

I see on the Taurus web site "The 608 packs a mind-boggling 8 rounds of .357 Magnum firepower". :)

And if you were using the Maxfire so-called "speed" loaders, yeah it's gonna be a whole different world with moonclips!

yeah, the Maxfires seem like a workable idea, but I sure couldn't make them work very well! maybe if they had been used a whole bunch so they were worn out enough so that they didn't hold the rounds so well...

we'll see if I can actually figure out how to function with moons instead by Saturday (I haven't had them out for any "real" practice yet, and likely won't before Saturday!)

Don't forget those of us coming from the east side 94 and 35W will both be closed to some extent around downtown Mpls, so the usual way to go around the horn and pick up 394 westbound won't work unless you cut across downtown. I think they said 94 is closed Cedar to 35W. Check the MNDOT site to be sure.

Won't be making it this time.

Need to spend some time with a friend who's dying of cancer.

Hopefully I'll be able to both the August events.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

I WILL be there tomorrow, and still have a wheel gun, and accessories to loan out if someone wants to give it a whirl. (see what I did there?) You would have to supply your own .45acp ammo though.

And load your own clips.

I will provide clips to use.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.
