Bonfire and outdoor movie, Thurs 0722, 9:30pm (Poll added)

Postby plblark on Mon Jul 19, 2010 8:52 pm

Mitchx3 is bringing the projector, screen, and a movie. Make a suggestion for the movie.
My thoughts: V for Vendetta, Super Troopers, Wanted, The Patriot, please add to the list and we'll vote Wed or so

the details: I live in Roseville near the Roseville Library. Location to be disclosed by PM.
If one of the regulars will vouch for you, cool, come on over. otherwise, PM me for address and directions.

Since this is more public than the notices in Strategy, I guess some ground rules are in order:

Remember the Saturday Morning Cartoon Rule? You can watch all you want until you wake the parents? It works similar here. Everything is fine until we wake my wife or kids ;-). So, congregate in the back of the back yard by the fire.

This is a carry friendly event but there will probably be a cooler of beer. Know your limit and store it in your car if necessary.
This is NOT a show and tell event. keep it in the holster like at a public place.
If we get more than the usual regulars, bringing a chair would be advised.
BYOB and snacks. Bug spray is advised. Bacon is welcome.

Oh, and Ironbear donated a whole trailer of wood ... it's right in front of the screen so the sooner we get it unloaded, the better ;-)

We'll start ASAP after I get back from Oakdale Practical Pistol. Last time that was 9pm. (Thanks FJ540 for helping setup)

Questions? Ideas? etc...

In case of rain, we'll convene in the garage.

Just fair warning: the projector does poorly with dark scenes. It's an oldish LCD type.

I vote Red Dawn.

Needs: Table for projector and 3 AC receptacles. If you have a drill and a screw we can mount the screen to any tree or anything.

WOLVERINES

I borrowed Michael Martin's which is nice but it's been key stoning worse every time I turn it on. I have been babying it but worry I've gotten more wear ad tear / use out of it than he has so I'm not volunteering it unless nothing else works.

I wasn't aware that keystone was an issue with bulb wear. It's usually a setting in a menu somewhere.

Well, the left top is getting more pointed and the menus don't fix it ... and it hasn't been dropped or mishandled by me. I've been noticing the slight misshape issue for over a year but since it's a loaner and we're using it for powerpoints and three of us have been using it ... It worked. But the last two times, it's a big difference. IDK what it is but you can look on Thursday.
