Interesting info, incomplete chemical analysis of a 1922 Russian Hex receiver I had done today

Iron 96.33%
Manganese 1.15%
Nickel 0.76%
Copper 0.65%
Lead 0.14%
Unaccounted for 0.97%

I am not sure what happened to the carbon content and maybe Silicon. I do not trust that it was a perfect analysis as I had to grind a spot of bluing/parkerizing (what ever it is) on the bottom of the receiver with a very well used grinding wheel. I will mill a patch clean and take it back for X-ray checking again.

I think it is getting cut down to 20-24" and turned down to somewhere between .75-1" for most of it. This is a 4140 steel barrel so it will have to be blued or treated somehow. But I think it will be cool as hell when it is done.

I should really stop trolling the internet today and go to the shop and work on this thing.

Just skip the paint and cover the gun in duct tape.

Well, yesterday I bought my Mosin (a little behind now, but don't worry, I got this...)

It's a 1939 Izhevsk
Not to give too much away, but I have plans to convert it to left-handed...
