Anybody going to the MN Weapons Collectors show at the Mayo Civic Center next weekend?

I've never been to one, are they worth the drive? That is a haul from the Metro.

If you wait two weeks, you can go to the one at RiverCentre in St. Paul.

Or you can wait until March 16-17 and go to the big one at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum.

Who knows what the law of the land may be by March. Half of the guns I own and all of the guns I want may be illegal. I may make the trip just to see if anything is even available for a reasonable price.

Do they allow CC at the gun shows?

I've never been wanded, and I don't "baah", so yeah. 8-)

I'm curious if there's a different segment of vendors/members at that show that might not trek up here for the others?

I live just outside of Roch so I went. I came home minus one AR but with my first 1911and more cash than I came with. It was pretty nuts at 10 when I got there but thinned out quite a bit by 3 when my NICS finally went through after a 2 1/2 hour wait. I didn't find what I was looking for but it was a good time.

Busy, busy, busy! In spite of the crowd, people were generally polite and courteous.

It was definitely a sellers market. I was shocked by some of the prices, while others were actually reasonable.

Bought a couple of raffle tickets and a knife, and picked up some gun show flyers.

I got there at 8:15 and left at 10:30. Pretty busy when I got there and very crowded when I left. I thought the prices were high. Didn't buy anything but a cup of coffee. Its always fun to go look around.

I sat and watched people coming and going for a while and it looked to me like people were buying.

I made the trek to Rochester today, was there from 11ish to about 1:30. I didn't think it was busy at all-dealers all said they got buried yesterday, though.
Didn't buy anything, was only looking for a couple of real specific pistols, no one had them.

MWCA gun show - Rochester, Jan. 12-13

Postby Metal Bird on Mon Jan 14, 2013 10:05 am

I too live outside of Roch and went on Saturday. It was my first time going to a show like this and I must say I was a bit disappointed. More like a big garage sale of people's old dusty and rusty overpriced junk. Not as many actual guns as I was expecting. Especially in pistols, and at that half of all the pistols there were Taurus. If that is your thing then Good Show. I was not expecting SHOT but was thinking there may be actual company or store vendors there.
There are only a couple of select new and used handguns I would have opened my wallet for anyway. There was one New pistol that intrigued me but I knew enough that its price tag was in no way a value ... $300 higher than what is in stock online!!!
Saw a used and abused shotgun, looks like it had been drug on the ground behind a horse, wanted $600 for it, I saw the exact same one new at Fleet Farm a couple weeks ago for $520. I was expecting to go home with reloading supplies too, but that was a no go.
Given the current state of the industry I expect certain higher prices, but this show was of no value compared to what you can find online or in local stores with discounts.
I did get a couple novelty items for the kids, a bullet keychain, a sharks tooth and a wood snake :-)

Those count as 3 transfers without a background check! CLOSE THE LOOPHOLE!

ETA: The one in St. Paul before the panic was much of the same. I think the vendors have to pay a booth fee and they have to make it up somehow I guess.

At about $50 per table you don't have to make up much, but it does take up three days of your time!
