I thought Burnsville had pistol leagues on Wed. Maybe I'm hallucinating? There's no leagues on their calendar for July or June.

Joe, we'll be bouncing around. Quang's is certainly possible for one of the meets.

Quang coming from me is an americanized version of vietnamese food.

It's decent on my pallet but I'm not gonna make everyone eat at only a few places.

Pho Tau Bay down the road on Nicollet has quite decent pho, bun and com tam.

Quang is not only pricier for a dollar or so. Its not as good.

How do I know this? I've eaten at every single Vietnamese restaurant throughout my life here in Minnesota.

However food is subjective, some people's taste are different then mines.

I will only list the restaurants to avoid if need be. Other then that any well known place is acceptable I guess

What he said.

My family has been going there since they were in the strip mall across the street. They were way better back then. They got a lot of TV exposure and their popularity exploded, and the pho, subsequently, went a little downhill.

By no means bad. Just not as good. I say we try them all anyway!

This.

My favorite Chinese food probably isn't all that Chinese even though the family who owns it (and cooks it) is very much straight out of China. (Rose Garden btw - best value of lunch buffet on the planet!)

If we can expose more people to other's favorite spots, and have some good conversation, that's win-win all day long in my book.

best part is it's all quite cheap and under 10 bucks a meal!

I've only been to Rose Garden once with my cousin. I liked it and I'm Chinese. That's by Rosedale, right?

My favorite Chinese spots are Keefer Court bakery for Hong Kong style noodle soup, roast pork buns and curry beef buns.

Mandarin Kitchen in Bloomington is by far the best for seafood. They have a bunch of live tanks. Fresh prawns, crab and rock fish. The salt and pepper Dungeness crab I get every time. They also do dim sum on the weekends. Definitely more pricey though.

Oh, and Jade in the Global Market for their Salt & Pepper Quail. The owner used to own Seafood Palace. When I was growing up, that's where all the big family dinners were and we would always get the quail.

Damn I'm starving now!

EDIT:

I forgot to mention Hong Kong Noodle Company!

Nope, Rose Garden has two locations now, and the original is a former Dunkin Doughnuts (tiny building) @2500 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433-3906 by the $4 car wash. The new location is 10565 University Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434 and is far bigger.

We've only gone for the lunch buffet, which is $7 without beverage (free water), and out of a few dozen visits (no exaggeration) we've never had a bad experience in the past 5+ years.

And yeah, ya'll are making me hungry too!

I just went to Destiny cafe2 on Sat. 6.50 for large bowl. Very good, wash down the spicy burn in my mouth with baby coconut water, and soft coconut, fresh.

I have been there with my wife, actually. She's from Anoka and brought me there one time.

So, is this the correct pronunciation?

This thread has me intrigued about something I've never before heard of.....not to mention hungry.

Ok, so it looks like we have enough interest to make this happen.

What portion of the month would be good? Once we figure out which week, then I'll put up a poll and we can get all diplomatic about choosing a night.

For me, time of day is most critical. I am currently locked into a day schedule, and 6PM is about the earliest I could be somewhere. Week of the month/ day of the week is gong to be hit or miss for the most part.
