August Steel Shoot

Postby selurcspi on Sun Aug 11, 2013 11:49 am

Hey, we're back to the Third Saturday, and it's less than a week away.

The August Bang Ping is almost here and it's back to any gun you want to bring, with all the ammunition you can stuff into it.

OK. What's needed
just like the Second rule of gunfights states......Bring a Gun!...... 9mm, .38, 41, 44, 45, will do the job.

Holster, not needed for a Tyro, but you cannot shoot Man v Man without one. The trigger MUST be covered.
Round count, in a perfect world 100 would suffice. If you have the slightest idea you might miss, bring more....lots more. I don't miss much but I still bring 200
Hearing protection, if you want to be able to talk with your grandkids bring it, learning sign language at 50 isn't easy.
Eye Protection, good quality sunglasses, safety glasses or prescription glasses are MANDATORY, they should wrap around the side or have side panels.
Think of your shooting glasses as your American Express Card, don't leave home without them. We're shooting at Steel, bullets shatter, pieces of them bounce.
Clothes...This is Minnesota, bring snow clothes, rain gear, sunscreen, shorts....you get the picture...be a boy scout.

Who knows what the weather will be like, the forecast changes from day to day. As it's August, we may have a nice day... It will probably be hot and sticky, so bring extra water

Hydration, bring something to drink, it may be hot (or cold) so bring water or something else.
Food, the town is six miles from the range and there are no facilities on site, bring some lunch, you might get hungry otherwise.
Start Time, Setup will be at 8:30, Shooting will start at 9:30.
COF, Four stages, each of 4 strings with the best three times to count. The winner will be the one with the lowest total time for the 12 runs.

$15 for Non Members, $10 for Members. (Gopher Campfire Club Members)

I'll be driving from South Minneapolis, so anybody along the way who wants a ride, let me know. (I got a Toyota Corolla now, not the Geo Metro, BTW, for you people concerned about your red carpet entrance. Or those concerned about surviving the trip.)

I'm assuming we'll be losing at least a half dozen to the Sectional this time. Hopefully everyone I invited can show and make up the difference.

I will have to see what the family has planned. But if they do not have me tied down for the day I think I will make it. What time do they normally get over at?

I really want to make it to one of the Gopher shoots someday. It just never works out. This time it's our annual kids day at the range and I'm in charge of the rifle shooting events.

Nope, it's totally run what you brung. That way if somebody's better than you, you can say it's because of their fancy cheater gear. Optics are legal, and several folks use them.

I'm planning to be there. Loading my ammo today. I will need a little help getting my wheelchair out of my truck, so I'll have a comfortable place to sit.

This will be my first competitive Pistol Shoot in more than 30yrs so be gentle... :surrender:

Note: I'm coming from Edina if anyone needs a ride. Let me know by tonight.

http://gophercampfire.com/map.htm

24718 Co Rd 7, Hutchinson, MN 55350-5631

Look at the map on the site to double check your GPS. The address occasionally takes me somewhere odd on google maps. The club is by lake Byron NE of Hutch.
