There aint no such thing! Seriously, just bring what you have. Just ask Pat Cannon! ;)

You may want to consider 9mm or larger.

I have a 9mm but it's an XDS, not the most desirable for target shooting. My only other pistol is a Berretta Neos which seems a little small and at the moment likes to stovepipe on me.

I saw someone shooting a Shield last year. You will need at least two magazines. If you can come up with four you will be in great shape. The Neos is too small of a caliber.

I shot it with a shield And 6 mags. The beginning of the season is easier than the end.

I have two 7-rd mags and the 9-rd they gave away with the recall. So if I pick up one more 9-rd I would probably be good. Problem is going to be finding one. They were near impossible to find right before the recall. Now with them giving one away with every 'upgrade' so I doubt they are shipping any to stores. You can find them on eBay but they are going for 1.5x - 2x retail price.

You could try the Neos, but it will not knock down any poppers. You may also have a hard time hearing the ping.

Well Neos is getting sold as I just picked up a Ruger MkIII Comp :D Anyone interested? Nice 6" Inox model.

I did get another extended 9rd mag for my XDS. If there's only 5 targets per station I would assume I could get by with two 9 rd mags and a 7 rd mag as a backup. If it takes me more rounds then that to hit 5 targets I should probably give up lol. Someone offered to lend me a Glock but the thing is I would rather get the practice with my XDS then be competitive. My only concern is how much more ammo that will cost me.

Grimbeaver, you may need more than that. On a bad day, I've gone through a 15 rn mag for 5 targets.

You'll be fine as long as you don't get suckered into one of Benny's "bonus" targets. And if you do get sucked into one don't keep shooting at it "because it's personal now." And if you do let it get personal, under absolutely no circumstances is it worth it to empty a 15 round magazine then reload and double down on a bad string because you have nothing left to loose and you want the poor DNF saps to suffer on 105% of your string....

...or so I've heard.

On a totally unrelated note, I wonder if Pat could do a chart comparing time spent chasing a bonus target to time awarded from a bonus target.

Doc Harvey wrote:Very excited, although I hate that I have to wait until April ;) . I have a new pistol to try out. We just picked up a new S&W M&P40 CORE Pro Series from Arnzen Arms and I put a Burris red dot on it. So even if I cant shoot as well as the "big boys", at least I'll look as cool as them. Style points count, right?

Doc, old post but any chance you're still planning on bringing that M&P on Saturday? I'd really like to check the CORE system out.
