Just a quick sidebar - if you have a Handicap Permit you may park at any meter at anytime without feeding the meter! Read the info that came with your permit!

Wow, I've fed the meters needlessly. I have handicap tags and still paid for my parking. I have had the tags for years and no longer have the paperwork that came with them.

Does this mean I can park in any metered parking spot without paying to park for a time period of up to 4 hours? If so you just saved me quite a bit of money as we frequently go to both Minneapolis snd St. Paul for dinner?

I also plan to be at the Gopher Breakfast Saturday if the weather holds out. I can't navigate icy places yet.

Quick update about the sidewalk around the Gopher as of yesterday afternoon:

Walk has been shoveled AND snow has been removed from street/gutter area, so there is no ice ridge to cross by the parking meters. Sidewalks still looked a bit icy further down the street, so with the snow last night/this morning it's probably still a toss-up. Sasha and I will be in Bethesda tomorrow, so I'll post another update tomorrow evening.

Show up, bring a friend (or 3), invite your neighbors, it's not possible to eat everything George cooks.

I will say this though; George was hurt by a low showing last year and threatened not doing these anymore if that happened again. So SHOW UP!

Even at 10 bucks a head, he's not making anything putting these on when you consider the manpower needed to open the joint for 4-5 hours and the cost of the food. These are a kindness to us, and we need to reciprocate by packing the house for him.

Just to set the record straight, the way this get-together works is we have to pick a Saturday that is NOT the 2nd Saturday of the month, and NOT a gun show Saturday, and NOT a steel shoot Saturday, and not a Saturday that is winter carnival or ANY of the state tourney events that happen In St. Paul. In addition, it can't be June, July, August, or some of September, because it gets to EFFEN hot in the kitchen for Cheri.

NOW!! This is the important part!! If we have enough people, Cheri buys the food on the MONDAY before the breakfast!! She allows for about 10 extra people, and that's about it. So show a little courtesy if you're planning on coming, and sign up by Sunday night the weekend before if you're going to come. While we did have one low count, it wasn't that far off, and part of it was that George said that her had like 15 people from S. St. Paul showing up. (1 actually showed)

In reality, they have been bugging me for a date more than I have been bugging them, but with the 2nd Saturday booked and steel shoots all summer that eat up a lot of 3rd weekends, there is damn little space left to schedule an event. In addition, it took close to a month to hit critical mass on this one, and I was within 24 hours of scrubbing the event. That's never happened before, and normally I give 3 weeks notice at most. As I have also previously mentioned after looking at pictures of all the other events, there are a LOT of people in the pictures that simply aren't here anymore.

I will continue to go to the EFFEN Gopher for as long as I'm around, and if the seasons and the weekends align we can continue to have these, provided we get 40 or more people to sign up in the space of about 2 weeks. So that's how this works, or how it won't work any more if there isn't enough interest.
