As far as time is concerned, There will be a lot going on that day, and I couldn't imagine the potluck starting until 6:30 - 7:00....... I am however open to suggestions.......this is, after all, a celebration for us as a forum.

Dawn and I are planning on attending the potluck, I just need to confirm a couple of things. We will bring a dish or two and will post this week what we're planning on bringing. We will also be toy shopping this weekend.

Has David confirmed the use of his place?

Cool! and the date listed was not on the "unavailable dates" list I received from him, but I have asked David for a %100 confirmation, he said he would get back to me today.

Also David, could you please post an address for those attending?

ALSO......... could those signing up, especially those with kids for the shopping please PM me, so we know the score? (PW, you are exempt, since I've already heard from you.)

Yep, the 13th is okay! And the address is 1720 Madison Street Northeast, Minneapolis. Madison is a dead-end, and there are two large white silos at the end of the street. Our building is the last one on the left, right next to the silos. The main room is on the third floor, and the entrance is on the south side of the building. Madison is a north/south street, between University and Central. However, it does not go through to Broadway, as Logan Park is in the way. From Broadway, turn north on Jefferson and head one block east on 13th to Madison. Then you can turn north and head four blocks to the end. If you get lost, feel free to call my cell at 612-834-4406.

A few things you'll want to know:

The neighborhood is very safe, as is the parking lot. In more than ten years there, we've never had anything at all happen. I say this because the building looks somewhat dodgy (we like it that way) on the outside and in the common areas, but is really nice in the main room. Don't get scared-off by the industrial appearance of the place.

Area 52 is a musicians' cooperative, and is set-up like a bar/venue. However, nothing is for sale, so you'll have to bring anything you want to consume. There are refrigerators to keep your drinks cold, and plenty of water, cups, plates, ice, etc.

There is no smoking in the main room. Smoking is allowed in the common area, however.

There is a stage and more music gear than anyone could possibly want, so if you're a musician and want to be the entertainment, knock yourself out!

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm sure I'm forgetting all sorts of stuff.

OK, sports fans, here is a tentative schedule for the 13th, and it's coming up irght around the corner! I have had a suggestion from a couple of members to meet at the toys r' us in Bloomington in the Southtown mall. It is also a dropoff point for toys. I was hoping to find a dropoff point with Marines stationed at it, but unfortunately the website has not been updated with locations, and I have yet to have any of my phone calls returned from the main office. I'm sure they are exceedingly busy this time of year. If I (or anyone else cough, cough, hammAR, cough) can find a more suitable location, I'll let you know.

We will meet at toys r us at 1pm, shop until 2, or 2:30 which gives us time to donate toys and run any other errands necessary before the potluck. I will try to be at Area 52 by 5PM to start setting up, anyone that would like to help would be very welcome. I figure we can put a start time of 6 PM on the potluck, come whenever, you will be welcomed regardless of when you set foot throught the door (Hey Srigs, that means you have no excuse :D) And another thing I cannot stress enough, you are all welcome at this event, even if you had no other participation in the Toys for Tots drive!!

If anyone has any other ideas, or we need to switch the schedule around to accomodate, please let me know as soon as possible, as I'd like to have plans solidified by this Saturday as to avoid last minute changes.

Also, for those of you attending the Pot Luck and are planning on bringing something to share, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHO YOU ARE, AND WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING!! It will be nice to have a list available so we know what to/not to bring.

Thanks for everyone's help in making this Toys for Tots drive a success, we really are going to make a difference this year!

ETA, this is not a "Dry event" I will assume that if you are going to be tying one on, that you have a ride home, and are not strapped, but 'tis your well being, and I'm not your Dad. Remember that there will be children in attendance, and this is a Holiday celebration. With that in mind, it will be a BYOB affair, or better yet, BYOB and some for Strad, (wink, wink... nudge nudge). If we are insanely lucky, we may be able to talk TT3 into bringing a keg as contribution to the pot luck............... (hint, hint)

I just consulted my scheduling director. I will be bringing my son shopping, but I have another Christmas party I have to attend that evening, so no potluck for me.

Strad,

Dawn, myself and two of our grand kids will be attending, not sure what time we can actually get there. Unholstered will be providing a pot of baked beans, crock pot of BBQ shredded pork and a pan of pumpkin bars.

You certainly can! That's our lot. You can also park on the street, or in the Casket Arts Building lot. Not that that many people will come to this, seeing as how we routinely get 30 cars in our lot...

We really need to get a good idea on a head count for the potluck next Saturday. We don't want to run short on food, so if your planning on attending please use the poll at the top of the page. It has already been mentioned that it is open to anyone, you don't have to be a toys for tots donor. Lets make it 2A holiday party. You don't even have to bring a food dish, ttousi if your planning on attending make sure it is store bought and sealed.......

Indeed mandy has offered to bring baked goods, and I can bring chips and whatsuch. I will also be "raffling" off a set of Strad custom grips for a full sized 1911. All adults who come will be able to sign up for the drawing (if you would like), there will be no cost to enter the raffle of the grips but you can't enter if you're not there :D . I'm not sure which set it will be, so it will be a surprise, but come on, what do you want? Free is free.

Like Ron said, please use the poll if you are planning to join us, and if you are bringing more with you please let me know so we can have a reasonable head count, and please post what (if anything) you are planning to bring. If you haven't been to an MNguntalk outing before, this would be a great opportunity to put some faces to screen-names!
