Hey gunhorde!! You will be wearing this PPG (Ponderous Pimp Gun) to the gathering, won't you? I have both a shoulder holster and a tac thigh holster for a DE 50 that you can borrow if you want. I would recommend the shoulder holster, as the tach thigh holster tends to pull your pants down unless you are wearing an ALiCE vest...

That's the plan, SAM... :D

I'm in the market for SOME method of carrying her, (I've decided to name her "Mother", as in The Mother Of All Guns !!)

What side is your shoulder holster on? I'd prefer a left-side cross-draw... Not having ever worn one I'm not sure if that's a standard configuration or not but it seems the most natural to me.

Blackhawk TActical makes a NICE looking thigh rig, but nothing for the DE (yet anyway, I'm hoping someday...)

I'd prefer a thigh rig, but if it's going to pull down my thong... :o

Unfortunately, the tac rig I have, which is very nice and built for the DE 50, (and has two leg straps) would pull your gold lame thong down faster than if you bent over in the Men's room of the Gay 90's to pick up the soap!!

The shoulder holster I have is the standard DE rig sold by Mag research, with the cannon under the left arm and two mags under the right arm to balance out the weight a bit. It is for a right handed person, but NOT a cross-draw. I can bring it along just in case - just let me know...

Just out of curiosity, how is a shoulder holster, made for a right handed person, firearm under left arm, not a cross draw?

Cross draw holsters are tilted so the butt of the gun is angled towards the strong hand side of the shooter. They generally hold the gun barrel at about a 45 degree angle to the ground, while a true shoulder holster has the gun barrel pointing more or less straight at the ground. The holster Doc Holliday was wearing in the movie "Tombstone" when he squared off against Johnny ringo was a cross draw. What few 500 S&W leather holsters there are that aren't shoulder strap bandolier types are cross draws, because the gun is so damn long the only way you can clear leather with the gun held vertically is with a tac thigh rig.

We might be able to make something like this only if it was after the weekend of the 20th.... Sounds like the coneys are good here, never had em would be good to try.... Hubby might be wearing his cowboy hat and boots -- but I'll make no mention of any thongs -- I'll leave it in all of your capable hands to discuss!!!

And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming........

I was at the robbinsdale store a few weeks ago overpaying for a box of 10mm FMJ and there was a guy doing paperwork for his gold D.E. ..I kinda chuckled to myself when I saw the gun,not that I would turn one down but if a reg model goes for $1500 I can imagine what a gold one goes for but to each their own and yea you really cannot run around cowboy country with only one gold D.E...pony up and get a 2nd one,do it big or go home right .. :P

And don't forget your bolo tie.[/quote]

I'd stay away from the 24K plated version unless it was going to be a "safe queen" - Firing that would damage the soft finish.

Mine is gold titanium, the finish is harder than the base gun metal... no need to worry about firing this one. :booyah:

I'd like to finalize the date, is the general concensus Fiday the 26th, or Saturday the 27th? Seismic says 6PM or so and not on an Alary's date (whenever THAT is)... Either day works for me but Saturday the 27th would be better, and would allow for a range trip before getting together at the EFFEN Gopher...

Post your availability and we'll get a count...

I'd vote for the 27th - hitting the Gopher for Coneys seems like a great follow-up activity to a steel shoot!!!
