Well we made it to the big show now. WE got a sponsor... When did that happen? That is awesome.

Happened a while ago... Where you been man? Personally I think it's badass. Kinda makes me wish I hadn't sold my mosin rukwikenuf a while back. That and the job Shippy did on that 3rd place trophy.

Is it sad that everyone is shooting for third place? Lol.

No... Like I said to Shippy in that thread. I'm surprised the other weren't that "nice"

Hello,

It happened several pages back.

I support enjoying C&R rifles in any form, and a tasteful "Bubba" job is right up my ally.

You can't really see... but here:

Front view of the prototype that started my business...

... and the rear.

Now there are a bunch of variations.

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

The first one shown is new, and is on sale for the remainder of the week. I'm also at lower summer pricing, so it's pretty inexpensive. I figure I'll just send the winner, when one is declared, a sight and all the pins that can fit it.

They all adjust like this:

The action is shimmed and the barrel corked:

I also made some cool things like a two-stage Finn M39-style trigger. Instead of pins, it has bearings :D

(I'm having problems figuring out how to imbed; I apologize)

You can barely see a couple bearings under the sear.

I'm not going to risk selling it though. Liability. Dangit.

This rifle is capable of this (or rather, I'm capable of doing this, with my 20/45 sight; I'm sure the rifle's much better):

Image

I had to work for that group, but as long as I have a target I can see, I can do about that. I take coyotes at 200 yards. That's about as far as I can see, uncorrected.

But that's my "Bubba" build and the reason I support this project: I know what these rifles can do and I love to see folks ring them out. Heck, a Finnish M39 had to have at least a 1.3MOA capability to be accepted into service!

As I said, I figure I'll just send the winner a sight and all the pins that can fit it. I also have articles on my home page. I need to update them with the ones I've posted in the long guns section, too.

I'm back to watching this closely!

Regards,

Tasteful modification!?! I think you've been mislead ;)

In all honesty I'm amazed at how a bunch of them have turned out. That's just the handful I've actually seen. I'm guessing a lot of them the pics won't do them justice.

"Tasteful" can be anything from what I did to mine, to an integrally suppressed deal loaded with 220 grain bullets over Trail Boss with a starlight 'scope, to a hacked-off deal used for pig huntin'.

Whatever serves the purpose you have, I believe is tasteful!

Others like to study the history of these things. I like to study the history of the functionality. I'm sort of an experimental archaeologist (figured out there's a name for what I am!) I've made and hunted with slings, atlatls, bows (no real bow maker; just some ash bent with twine when I was 10. Still capable of taking squirrel, though!) I've just moved to firearms.

The business started when I got tired of aiming low. My rifle improved when I asked, "How did the Finns do that?"

That's sweet. It's people like that keep any industry (in this case firearms) moving forward. I can't help but applaud you for your efforts.

I would like to take the time again to thank you for putting up an actual prize for the competition. Just kinda wish you could come see the show for yourself. It has the makings to be really interesting and a ton of fun.

Well Sir, so do I. But I'm in Indiana and I'm my own machinist, secretary, and PR guy. A certain larger company wanted me to join them at the SHOT Show last year and I just couldn't go.

Anything I do right now, I have to do locally.
