August Bang Ping

Postby selurcspi on Mon Aug 15, 2011 6:36 am

So Saturday is just 5 days away and the Antipenultimate Steel Shoot is here.

OK. What's needed
just like the Second rule of gunfights states......Bring a Gun!...... 9mm, .38, 41, 44, 45, will do the job.

Holster, not needed for a Tyro, but you cannot shoot Man v Man without one. The trigger MUST be covered.
Round count, in a perfect world 100 would suffice. If you have the slightest idea you might miss, bring more....lots more. I don't miss much but I still bring 200
Hearing protection, if you want to be able to talk with your grandkids bring it, learning sign language at 50 isn't easy.
Eye Protection, good quality sunglasses, safety glasses or prescription glasses are MANDATORY, they should wrap around the side or have side panels.
Think of your shooting glasses as your American Express Card, don't leave home without them. We're shooting at Steel, bullets shatter, pieces of them bounce.
Clothes...This is Minnesota, bring snow clothes, rain gear, sunscreen, shorts....you get the picture...be a boy scout.

A guy walks into a bar and orders a beer, the barman serves the beer then looks out of the window and announces "It looks like rain"
The guy finishes the first sip of his beer looks at his glass and replies, "Yeah, but with just a faint taste of hops"

Hydration, bring something to drink, it may be hot (or cold) so bring water or something else. (personally I don't consume caffeine when shooting it gives me the shakes)
Food, the town is six miles from the range and there are no facilities on site, bring some lunch, you might get hungry otherwise.
Start Time, Setup will be at 8:30, Shooting will start at 9:30.
COF, Four stages, each of 4 strings with the best three times to count. The winner will be the one with the lowest total time for the 12
$10 for Non Members, $5 for Members. (Gopher Campfire Club Members)
Membership has gone up this year, Annual membership dues are: $35 for the Calendar Year. (Still a bargain even in August)
NRA, MADFI, MN DNR, Certified Instructor

Since my dad can't make this one, I have car pool spots open. The plan is to leave Roseville about 6:30am, pick up Pat Cannon and whomever else, and be at the range in time for 8:30am setup.

Reminder: This is the August shoot where someone was going to bring burgers or hotdogs or something to sell ... Bring your folding money and an appetite :-)

I can bring a spare hammer that we could just tie around your neck! :)
(and I'll probably have on a Hawaiian shirt too...)

edit: maybe I'll throw a BMFH in the truck so the extra weight will slow him down for the man vs man - and if we hang it from a long enough rope the handle may trip him up too...
