Hmong village lunch Sat. 25th.

Postby timwarner on Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:51 pm

Anyone interested? Good time to try a lot of different food. Family style sharing.

I didn't get any wings last time and I am craving them.
Chicken wings, deboned, and stuffed with noodles, spices, and pork (sausage maybe? It usually tastes seasoned)

Where is hmong village?
Wrap that around your overly muscled left wing and row your dinghy in counterclockwise circles as a result.

Sorry I couldn't make it, I truly did want to come out but my partner received some bad family news Saturday and it was right for me to stay with him. I hope those that showed up had a good time.

Picked up a pair of knives for someone on another forum that liked mine. These have little longer, straight, more solid handle than mine with a little more curved handle made of horn.
Got some fresh papaya salad that I caught someone in the process of making at one of the food places, and went down to my brother's place for fresh home made pho.

I went there last saturday. I have to say.... awesome food. I looked around for any other guys that might be from here. I'll be going back again for sure. Had some Pho and papaya salad. Washed it down with a coconut bobba tea. Oh and I had this pork thing, looked like a big ass piece of bacon. Fried crisp, the skin was like a pork rind, crispy.... the meat was juicy and delicious. Oh yea, I'll be going back again soon.

Yeah, the big pork rind pork slab is awesome, so are the stuffed wings.
The Pho is good, and for the size bowl you get, very well priced for made from scratch pho. They don't skimp on the meat either.
I think if you ask really nice, you might be able to get the beef neck or tail used to make the broth. I really like those, and my asian family almost always saves me a really big one for when I come over.

Check out mov cawb. It's purple rice that comes in a round tub, in some liquid.

Next time you want to go back, send me a PM. Usually a guy from my work goes Sat., and my brother can be easily convinced. It's neat having someone from the old country walk you through the place, there is a lot more culture there than a lot of people would notice.

The best papaya salad is before noon, when you catch someone making it fresh. I waited around the C entrance for about 15 minutes or so, then went and got the knives I needed and picked up food to go. I'm a 6'0" shaved bald guy in a black trenchcoat, so I am hard to miss.

I assume you're talking about the one at the foot of Como by the SA at Penn? Or is there another? The Phalen directions are throwing me.

Not the como one.
This is just south of maryland ave on johnson. You stay on Johnson and go just south of phalen (blvd?)

I'll probably be going again for lunch this coming Sat, unless I have to work.
