Old school battle rifle shoot

Postby 45Badger on Sun May 06, 2012 1:50 pm

On the chosen day, we will rendevous at Cabela's in Rogers and depart (stragglers will be left behind) for the club at 0830, get everyone signed in, shoot from 9-12, go home, group lunch/whatever. We will shoot at 100 yard range only.

I have a couple/few Garands and will also bring an M1A to share. If you don't have a wooden battle rifle (sux to be you  ) I'm sure enough folks here would share. If you're a nice borrower/moocher and bring some non-corrosive, milspec ammunition (so it doesn't bend op-rods) the lenders will probably appreciate it!

Rules- Only 20th century main battle rifles manufactured with wood and steel permitted. FALs will be allowed because of their awesome coolness 8-) . Poodle shooters allowed ONLY if they have wooden stock, forearm and grip like Benny's AR in other thread. That's it for exceptions. Sorry, not worth the pissing and moaning to grant other exceptions.

Things we need you to do if you want to attend-

1) Respond to the poll
2) Post something like- "I wanna go!"
3) In you post state if you are a ERSC member
4) Note # of folks in your party. Be accurate! Please keep it reasonable so we can stay within club's member guest ratio.
5) In your post state what you will bring and be willing to share. If you don't have a Wood and Steel/Old School battle rifle please note that you will be on the Lend Lease program like the Brits

Please note on the poll- One thing that will weigh heavily in date selection is availability of ERSC members so that we can comply with club rules on member to guest ratio.

Wood is good. Word.

I wanna go!

Not a member.

Just me.

M44 and 91/30 and a spam can of old school ammo. I doubt I can/want to shoot all 440 rounds so I'll share.

This is, of course, dependent on what date is chosen.

I'm planning on being there as long as it isn't on the 19th. I am a ERSC member and do not have any guests lined up yet. I also do not have the required battle rifle but that may change before the date of the shoot. I also would not be meeting at Cabela's but would meet the group at the range as I live 10 minutes north of ERSC.

I voted for the 26th, but the 28 is just as good, if not better! This is gonna be a great shoot!

Just me (the wife hasn't committed to it yet).

Not an ERSC member.

I have an Enfield No. 4, Mk. 2 and an Ishapore 2A1. I do not have an unlimited supply of .303, but I'll bring her along anyway.

Whoa!

Slow down.

Stop.

ERSC is a private club, with rules regarding its operation. Before attempting to organize or schedule an event like this, you need to first get approval from the Activity Chair whose range you wish to use, and then get the approval from the club's Board of Directors. I don't know who you are, I don't know any of the other forum members who are attending. Maintaining the correct member/guest ratio is a start, but not enough.

The next club meeting is May 15th at 7 pm.

:postponed indefinitely:

Too bad. Would have been nice to see a new facility. Could have even resulted in new memberships.

Let me know if this ever gets off the ground.

Sounds like 2013 by the time hoops are jumped through, meetings are attended, proper forms are filled out, committee's are formed, studies are made. All this when only 7 people have replied to the survey.

Everybody chill. Given the relatively small numbers, I think this is a non-issue.

I'll check in with the club to make sure nobody gets twisted. I'm a member at another club and think we could do it there if ERSC doesn't turn out to be small group friendly. Peace out with a bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, Ping! 8-)

That's not how the president of the club made it sound....

That sound like a pretty big deal to me.

There are plenty of other clubs that would be happy to have a small number of folks shoot. Like ninja boy said..... Gopher, or OGC, Maybe even Ron's club in Forest lake.

There are plenty of options outside of ERSC.

I'm sorry that you don't know the people that have responded.
I have met a small number of them, I'm not president of anything. I'm also not very outgoing.
This sounds like an excellent way to put faces with names and generate interest in joining your club.
I'm assuming your club values having members, and welcomes new members.

I have no dog in this particular race, I work Saturdays, so I will miss this excellent opportunity to experience some really cool stuff.
I will also miss the opportunity to be a guest, visit a new range, and see what it has to offer.

I am looking for a club/range to join.
I'd like to find a range that is hospitable to its members, I thought this would be a simple thing.

Please reconsider this.
