MWCA Gun Show March 16-17

Postby Thunderjohn on Wed Mar 13, 2013 7:35 pm

MN Weapons Collectors Gun Show. This is the big one of the year.
State fairgrounds on Snelling Ave. - Cost $5
This weekend. Mar 16 & 17
Sat 8-5 . Sun 9-3

If you're not familiar with MWCA, don't let the Collectors part of the name fool you.
There is more new than collectible, at least during normal times.

Hope to see a lot of you there. We should be on the outer ring - south side.

This is meant respectfully to anyone involved (I LIKE that show...last time I was there it was standing room only)....but I'm thinking at this time of the....??? Political Cycle??? the LAST place I want to be is at a gun show....
A) I'm sure there will be silly prices on any ammo.
B) AR prices will reach record highs
C) Overall Sellers Market.

I can wait for my next purchases....SW MP Shield When it's readily available for $399 I'm buying.

I'm good for ammo till July....I would go out on a limb and say regardless of how nice the weather might be....this show will have (comparably) record low attendance. (but what do I know...I'm speculating)

google Real Estate Bubble.

In 8 - 12 weeks most Legislatures will be recessed and the dust will start settling

I'm not going to spend more than .03 per round of bulk .22 and I can wait it out.

My guess is that a lot of guys will be packing up their tables on Sunday and their expectations of a great Windfall will not be realized. :)

Well , not everyone has jacked up their prices. I'm bringing 1/4 of what I usually bring and not expecting to make anymore than normal.
And the attendance will more than likely be through the roof.
But don't come if you don't need anything or are going to have a bad attitude right from the start.

I really like that show, I just think there's too much TURMOIL happening for me to make any serious buying decisions. I like seeing the knives, war memorabilia, derringers, stuff I didn't know existed and general 'window shopping' but I'm just going to wait it out do the math on any purchases. Have a good show.

I stopped at your booth (outer ring near some food I think) near some one who specialized in shoulder holsters. (that's what I was 'shopping') Question: why are you going to bring 1/4 of what you usually would bring? I may be dead wrong about the turnout....those looking for their first gun / gear may jump at this gun show. Have a good show. :)

I agree 100% with John. After seeing the turnout at the Wells "gun" show last weekend, I guarantee the MWCA will be well attended. I would bet most ar rifles will be high, and most ammo. But there are still good, honest sellers out there (like John) who are plugging along and waiting out the paranoia without gouging.

Thunderjohn, my wife is insisting we visit her parents out of town this weekend. Have any specials that will help make a compelling argument to make this show something I can't miss?

My buddy derick at the Midland Armory will be there with his mobile armorer's set up and Italian Gun Grease for sale. if you are intrested in checking it out, tell him Zack sent you and he will give you a demo on the stuff.

Gun shows are fun shows. As long as everybody bathes 8-)

I rarely go to a gun show trying to buy a specific gun or accessory at a great price. When I do, it usually doesn't work out. When I go with a reasonably good disposition and a pile of cash, I usually find something to buy. For me, it's a great way to hang out with a friend or two, see some folks I know, and stumble upon a cool or interesting deal.

I'm stuck on ambulance coverage this weekend, but the one I was most interested in was the April show with the knife collectors.

Never been to the March show and want to go, but doubt I can find a sub this weekend.

I'm sure there will be ethical dealers like Thunderjohn there, and also vendors selling bricks of .22LR for $70 and Mini-14's for $1,600. There will also be people buying things at outrageous prices and others won't. It's just the way things are right now.

They're all fun, and I always learn something or see something new.

Not my choice, it's just all that I have right now.

When I'm ready to .....pull the trigger....on the S&W Shield I'll call you first. Last 2 guns were purchased at Gun Stop. I think you had 2 Shields for $449 just before a recent show.
The weather is in your favor for a good turnout, good luck.

Badger has got the right plan. Bring cash, and be open minded about what you're looking for. Run into old friends, have a cup of coffee, see some pretty guns, enjoy yourself.
Remember, gun control is not about guns, it's about control.

Just don't be surprised (not that any of you would be)!
A friend of mine mentioned that the anti's apply for & got a permit so they could "assemble" out at the gun show this weekend

Take it for what's it worth! If it's true-don't forget to smile for the camera's ;)

It'd be a real shame if someone happened to steal the schrader valves from their cars. :?

I'm guessing any car with an obama sticker would be a safe bet. 8-)

Yeah, that wouldn't reinforce any negative stereotypes at all. It certainly would be a mature way to respond to people who obtained a permit and are legally assembled exercising their rights.
