MNGunTalk 1st Anniversary Party - August 10th

Postby rucker on Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:34 pm

To celebrate the first anniversary of MNGunTalk.com we have reserved the pavilion and pistol range at Beaverbrook Sportsmans's Club. Beaverbrook is about 30 miles north of downtown Minneapolis on Highway 65. The gates can only stay open from 12PM-4PM so please do your best to arrive during that window. If you think you will be coming later please PM me for my phone number so you can call when you arrive. Food and some beverages will be provided. Honestly I don't know exactly what will be there but Westberg is getting some good stuff to grill and there will also be hamburgers, brats, and some food that members have offered to bring. Alcohol is allowed at Beaverbrook so you may bring that yourself if you wish; please be responsible and no drinking before using the range. Anything I missed?

Things you might want to bring:
- lawn chair. There are about 10 picnic tables there but you might want something more comfortable.
- sunblock if it's sunny. The pavilion is covered but the pistol range is not.
- beverages. I have picked up 96 bottles of water and will have about 4 cases of assorted soda. You're on your own for anything else.

Plates, napkins, and silverware will all be provided.

I'll post more as I remember what else I forgot :)

Are we still doing the pot luck thing? If so, can you update as time nears so we have an idea as to how many people are coming and what types of things we could bring?

Thanks.

Yes... We will be providing all the grilled main course stuff but my understanding (from westberg, who is currently on vacation) was that several people had volunteered to bring some sides.

If you are bringing a dish to the picnic please post what it is here so others can plan.

I was planning on making:
- Baked Beans
- a couple types of dessert bars (don't know what yet)
- don't know what this is actually called... that pasta/pepperoni/italian dressing salad type thing. Hopefully you know what I mean

There should be quite an abundance of food but you can never have too much! :)

It looks like food and stuff like that has been covered. Are people bringing guns to swap? I'd certainly be willing to bring some of my more interesting ones if people wanted to shoot them.

And how about targets? What does Beaverbrook have? I could bring some steel if people wanted to knock stuff down.

That's a good idea! The pistol range is divided into three totally separate lanes so we could definitely devote one to trying out other guns.

I could bring some steel if people wanted to knock stuff down.

I can't make it, I forgot to ask for the day off before I went on vacation. You all have a fun and safe time, I look forward to seeing pictures of the event posted as soon as it's over.

Okay, so if there's interest, I'll bring some of my rifles in .308 and .223 (are rifles okay?), some carbines in .45 and 9mm, and a few of my more odd pistols. Just bring your own ammo, and knock yourself out! (Wait, that didn't sound right...)

And I'll bring some poppers and some other steel that doesn't have to be re-set (plates and springy poppers). Just pleeeeease hit the plates and not the frames, okay?
