Embarrassing question. How is the steel calibrated?

I have a bunch of .38's loaded up for cowboy where there is a velocity ceiling to avoid splashback, so I'm shooting 125 gr @ ~900 fps which give me a Power Factor of 106 or so. Now that's considered somewhat fast for Cowboy where the minimum power factor is 60, but somewhat slow for USPSA where they want a PF of 125, and adequate for IDPA where they want 105(albeit out of a shorter barrel).

I know that this shoot isn't all technical like that, but I don't want to get there and find out that my rounds won't drop the steel.

Typically you just need to ring the steel, but there will be some mini poppers that need to fall, a.22 in the top inch will normally knock them down but we will be using some new ones tomorrow so I can't promise they will be identical. I'd bring hotter loads to be sure for stage 1.

Got 4 boxes of 44 special on the bench. When all you have is a 629...

Prolly ought to practice speed loading.

Im out my only revolver is an old cowboy style .45 colt single action. I would have come and shot my semi auto with what ever handicap you required (then I would have had the shame of being beat by some of you revolver guys☺) however yesterday after noon I was blessed with my firts child a son brody berman. So the wife will be needing me Saturday but I will see you all in august. Shoot straight and have a great time

Yup! I'm at the range and it's raining. Just before it started, the densest cloud of mosquitoes I've ever encountered attempted to bleed me dry....bring bug spray!

The revolver steel shoot was another great success. A bit wet at times, but nothing that was not taken in stride. Again a big thank you to all the RO'S, the score keeper and all who helped set up and tear down. Of course a huge thank you to Benny and China, who put so much effort in to keep this whole thing getting better and better. As I understand it, another great big thank you should be going out to Evan from http://www.shootsteel.com for donating all new steel targets that were used for stage 1 today. Thank you Evan..
