The annual hog hunting trip to Heavy horns is Feb 13-15, 2015. There are 3 in the goup so far. We have room for 2-3 more guys.
Is about 15 minutes east and north of Superior, WI. the trip is about 3 hours from downtown MPLS.
An older gent with mobility issues went last year so getting around is easy even if mobility is at issue.
The cost is $100 for guide service and lodging( we bring and cook our own meals) $400 per hog... transported and field dressed ..... These hogs are good eating .. very lean !
Please bring at least .308 or 30.06, these pigs( Russian Boars) are tough. I have seen 12 gg slugs, .270, 7.62x54r, 7.5 swiss, 300 win, 300 ultra mag, 45/70, and .375 H & H.
People have used ARs and AKS and .30-30 but I really think you need 308 + . We have tracked pigs 200-600 yards .... the guide will go after them for you but a humane hunter uses the appropriate equipment. These hogs are good size and tough.
Typical shots would be 30yards to 100 yrds , opportunities to shoot out to 250 are available. 99.9% get pig.... if you are shut out your cost is only the $100.00 for lodging.
Lodging is an old farm house converted to a small hunting lodge sleeps 10-13. There is electricity, cooking facilities, indoor plumbing, hot shower and satellite TV.
if anyone has interest please contact me asap.
Participants must be safe hunters!
