What does one have to do to get involved? I have never been to one, and would like to start this time around.

Steel Shoots 2012

Show up with a pistol, a few spare mags, boxes of ammo, a holster and mag pouches. IIRC, 250 rounds of ammo wasn't too much (depending on your accuracy).
And lunch, water and clothing/sunscreen for a full day outdoors.

There are 5 targets at 4 different stations. You shoot each station 4 times and toss out the worst time. The layout of the stations gets harder as the year goes on so if you are just starting out, it's a good idea to show up to the early ones to get the hang of things but isn't a requirement.

They are a LOT of fun.
