I'm thinking I might just order a CrossBreed SnapSlide and their double mag holder to try. I picked up a XD Mod2 5" and the holster choices are limited right now for such a new gun.

Correction, I had 6 speedloaders, and so in retrospect I'm slightly more embarrassed that I still managed to run out, and make everybody wait while I refilled speedloaders at the line. But, I now have 4 more, so I should be able to avoid that awkwardness in the future. I sure hope so anyway!

In fact if anybody needs to borrow some at the match, let me know. They also fit a Smith 629.

Dude that's nothing... The day I had a 1911 with a bad rear sight on it...I had every mag I owned plus a couple borrowed at my feet... Still had to reload mags on the 4th string....

I need help!
I'm such a piss poor pistol shot that its really embarrassing to even show up.
I consistently shoot 6" low and 4" to the left of my point of aim with both my 9mm and my 40S&W.
Some of it is trigger pull lack of technique.
Some of it is changing eyes for an old fart.
But when another shooter shoots my pistols and has the same results, I start to wonder.

Both of my pistols are Beretta Inox 92 nand 96 FS.

Can someone help me?

Do I need a taller rear sight and have it slid to the right for error correction?

Does anyone have the necessary tools and sight inserts to correct this problem?

I know I need practice, but using Kentucky Windage of aiming off top right of target with pistol frame complete covering target is bothering me.

Worst case here is, you get no help beforehand, improve your pistol shooting based on experience and advice you get at the match, and have fun.

Anyway, 6" low and 4" to the left is only (6^2+4^2)^(.5) = 7.2" off center. Many of the steel targets are more than 14.4" across. You'll only have to remember the Kentucky windage (and Kentucky elevation) for the small targets. I say you're all set!

New(ish) to MN and looking forward to shooting in a free(er) state!

What are the details for this months steel shoot? Where, duration, price, how can I help setup/take down, etc.

The weather may or may not be Warm, Wet, Dry, Sunny, Overcast, Who knows what we'll get, we'll just shoot rain or shine.

OK. What's needed? Just like the Second rule of gunfights states......Bring a Gun!...... 9mm, .38, 41, 44, 45, will do the job.
Holster, not needed for a Tyro, but you cannot shoot Man v Man without one. The trigger MUST be covered. Ammunition carriers are a big help,
Round count, in a perfect world 100 would suffice. If you have the slightest idea you might miss, bring more....lots more. I don't miss much but I still bring 200

Hearing protection, if you want to be able to talk with your grandkids bring it, learning sign language at 50 isn't easy.

Eye Protection, good quality sunglasses, safety glasses or prescription glasses are MANDATORY, they should wrap around the side or have side panels.
Think of your shooting glasses as your American Express Card, don't leave home without them. We're shooting at Steel, bullets shatter, pieces of them bounce, PROTECT YOUR EYES.

Clothes...This is Minnesota, bring snow clothes, rain gear, sunscreen, shorts....you get the picture...be a boy scout.
It's April, there is a good chance the range will be muddy, bring a second pair of shoes and a bag for your muddy shoes and save you having to clean your car.

Hydration, bring something to drink, it may be hot (or cold) so bring water or something else (non-Alcoholic).

Food, the town is six miles from the range and there are no facilities on site, bring some lunch, you might get hungry otherwise.

Start Time, Setup will be at 8:30, Safety Briefing will start at 9:30, if you are not there for the safety briefing, I'm sorry but you will not be able to shoot the match.


COF, Four stages, each of 4 strings with the best three times to count. The winner will be the one with the lowest total time for the 12 runs.

$15 for Non Members, $10 for Members. (Gopher Campfire Club Members)
