The Global Precision Group (GPG) team members include Mark Lonsdale, internationally ranked shooter, Derek Rodgers, reigning FTR World Champion and Phillips, reigning NRA ELR National Champion. The 3.4-mile shot hit a 32” x 48” target and took 17 seconds to report. It required 625 MOA of elevation from a 100 yard zero. Phillips’ rifle is chambered in .416 Barrett, using VithaVuori 20N29 powder topped off with a 550-grain Cutting Edge laser bullet running 3,000 FPS.

Lots of my relatives are long range and for most I don't mind.

BTW something came up and couldn't make the lunch.

While the shooters posted about above are great shooters, it is a case of throwing big money at a project and covering up the negative details while publishing the better points of the project.

WHY am I critical of this project - read the details - 21 missed shots before a hit - then no further details on shots required to make the second hit.

Its like shooting a shotgun pattern hoping one of the pellets may hit the target.

I agree there's a certain amount of luck involved in shots like this. I think any good competitive shooter could accomplish the same feat given the proper equipment, manpower and time to cherrypick the ideal conditions.

I'm thinking their ballistics calculator isn't up to the task. An M1 Abrams could make first round hits while doing 40mph on uneven terrain.
