No Wonder There Was No Press Release

Postby rtk on Fri Nov 27, 2009 12:06 pm

Randy Royer, from Dothan AL, is a shooting victim at Ft. Hood.

A man in Dothan had his television on in his office when the news of the military base shootings came on. One of his employees had a husband who was stationed at Ft. Hood . He called the employee into his office and the minute he told her what was going on, she received a text message from her husband saying, "I'm okay."

The cell phone started ringing right after that. It was an ER nurse. She said, "I'm the one who just sent you a text, not your husband." She thought the message would be comforting, but she immediately knew she had to let the wife know what was going on. She said, "I am sorry, but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery."

The wife left Dothan and drove all night.

Miraculously, here is the photo that was taken today in the hospital room. He is awake and will recover. His wife, who lives in Dothan, made it to Ft. Hood about the time he was waking up.

Thought I'd share this great outcome.

Look who is in his room !!

No wonder there was no press release.

Glad he is recovering well.

Imagine waking up to GWB in your room, and asking him if the whole Obama thing was just a dream :?

IT would not surprise me one bit. My wife's uncle knows that family well, says stuff like that would be the least they could do.

I have heard he still writes every family who looses someone in the WOT a hand written letter. even after leaving the Office.

Are you saying that Bush requested no press coverage? Seems reasonable to me, he has nothing to gain, now.

President Bush Visit Ft. Hood
November 7th, 2009 by CJ

Former President George W. Bush secretly visited Ft. Hood last night to meet with the victims of the troops affected by the recent massacre at the hands of a Muslim extremist within our ranks.

This is typical for President Bush who worked hard during his presidency not to use the military for political gain, especially when it came to wounded troops and their families. He made many unannounced and unpublicized visited to military bases in and out of the country. He invited military bloggers, myself included, to meet with him one on one without fanfare or media. That's the way he was and I'm glad to see that he has continued this respect and admiration for our military.

This is from Fox News:

The Bushes entered and departed the sprawling military facility in secret, having told the base commander they did not want press coverage of their visit, a source told Fox News.

The couple was described as "deeply concerned" about military families on Fort Hood after Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly opened fire on soldiers and civilians, killing 13 and wounding 38.

The Bushes, who have a 1,600-acre property known as Prairie Chapel Ranch less than 30 miles from Fort Hood in central Texas, spent between one and two hours visiting the wounded and their families.

As the media continues to blame PTSD and mental health on this massacre (did I call it?!), remember that this is not the issue. Hasan is a Muslim extremist bent on killing as many Americans and American troops as possible in the name of Allah and a religion being taken over by zealots and radicals.

Bush had nothing political or personal at all to gain from the visit. This fact makes me respect his action even more. President* Obama only would have gone if the soldier died, and he was followed by an entourage of press documenting his "selfless" act. Apparently he had nothing to gain from the visit either, which is why he didn't go. Kind of puts the two personalities in perspective, doesn't it?

Look on the bright side. In scenario two, we would have had another full page picture of the President's* "impeccable" salute in the newspapers.

If nothing else - George has a great deal of respect and admiration for the troops - well, I think that he loves each and every one of them. I am glad that he continues to be a mensch.

Exactly. I'm saying that "no press" was likely what he wanted.

Well it's better than the aircraft carrier stunt.

There were actually news reports on this visit just a couple hours after: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/11 ... d-victims/

Sure, it will sneak out, all news eventually does. But the Bush's made sure their time with the families was private. I am sure they had a photographer in tow, but his job was to take pics like this for the families and their own private memories.

Yep, but I'm just saying, Bush was not above self-indulgent publicity stunts when he was a candidate and President. Saying Obama wouldn't have done the same thing is just silly, childish partisanship.

Not true Deano............

Dover Air Force Base
Bush made numerous trips and often visited families, no press on any of it......definitely wrote letters to each family......

Oblama made one trip, and out of 19 families only one would let him take a picture, tons of press.....hasn't visited anyone, and I do not know if he writes letters to the families or not............

Fort Hood
Bush made one initial trip and several since, met with families, no press on any of it.......and wrote letters to each family............

Oblama went to play golf at Ft. David, and only went to the Ceremony, tons of press........hasn't visited anyone, and I do not know if he writes letters to the families or not............

Thanksgiving
Bush made several trips to Iraq and A'Stan, only once were press along, otherwise no press on any of it.......

Oblama phones a couple, tons of press........

Bowing to Foreign Dignitaries
Bush never bowed or apologized for America.....

Oblama is constantly bowing and apologizing for America.........

and regarding the aircraft carrier stunt.....you rewriting history again......that Mission Accomplished was for the War, cumulative of the battles from initiation until they wiped out the Iraq Military and removed the government......that was the objective and that was Mission Accomplished, as our Military had in just 90+days decimated and defeated one of the top five largest military organizations in the world. Then started the portion to stabilize and rebuild them

It is no different that Germany and Japan, while it took 4-5 years to defeat them, and claim Victory. Even with that it took several more years of pitched battles and sabotage to reach a point where it then took 25+ years to stabilize and rebuild them......

same-same, apples to apples.................and that is not just silly, childish partisanship.

The "mission accomplished" thing is a canard - forget that. It's the landing in a jet when he could have taken a helicopter. In retrospect, it's pretty clear The Bush White House regrets the whole thing.

Look, I don't want to defend the long legged devil from Chicago, but the whole "unannounced visit" thing is a well-worn Rovian scheme that even Obama uses: President Obama makes unannounced visit to Iraq at end of first overseas trip
