House Judiciary Democrats Call for Hearings on Gun Safety

(Washington) – Congressman John Conyers (D-Mich.), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, joined by the other fifteen Democrats on the Committee, today asked Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) to hold hearings on gun safety in the wake of the recent Tucson shootings.

“It is more important than ever that we examine our gun safety laws and regulations,” said Conyers.

Someone should notify these mental midgets that WHEN HANDLED PROPERLY, guns are just as safe as, if not safer than, an automobile. It's NOT an issue of gun safety, it's an issue of enforcing existing laws and personal responsibility.

And while they're looking into the mental health issue as it relates to gun ownership, I suggest they also use the same guidelines in regard to setting qualifications for candidates running for public office.
