Well call me when you see something substantive. As for now, this is just more crying wolf and I'm getting bored with it. :|

Yes your first link in this post was based on hearsay. The OP link has direct quotes from the White House Press Secretary.

Right, because the WH PS is always so forthright, direct and honest about what the President is up to. This is just a bone for the base. I have serious doubts that anything will come of it.

Be vigilant, but wise. As most of you point out so often; this is the pattern of behavior of the WH: say one thing and do another (especially on this issue). Why would you believe they are being honest now?

Is this what they are talking about?

NRA: We'll sue over new reporting rule for multiple gun buys

The National Rifle Association is vowing to sue the Obama administration after it announced Monday that it will begin to require gun dealers in four border states to send reports to the government following multiple sales of some semi-automatic longarms.

"They don’t have the statutory authority to do it and we’ll file a lawsuit as soon as the first letters are sent" demanding the sales information from dealers, the NRA's legislative director Chris Cox told POLITICO Monday afternoon.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms announced in December that it planned to implement the rule on an emergency basis beginning in January in order to reduce the flow of assault weapons across the border into Mexico. However, the Office of Management and Budget rejected the emergency "information collection" and told ATF to proceed with a full, formal process and public comment period. The final proposed rule was made public on April 29.

Obama administration officials denied that the decision to proceed with the new reporting requirement or the timing of its implementation had anything to do with the controversy over and Congressional investigation into an ATF's "Operation Fast & Furious," which allegedly lost track of more than 100 weapons suspected of being headed for Mexican drug cartels. Two of those weapons showed up at the scene of the killing of a Border Patrol agent in December.

Yeah, that's it. He'll probably stop there. Just some common sense regulation. Maybe if it'll keep just one scary looking rifle from getting into Mexico........

yes your right Dean.........we should all just go to sleep now .......don't worry...........just close your eyes............the man in charge isn't a threat to anyone's personal liberty.......it's all just harmless political speech...........nothing bad ever happens when the politicians start to talk about what they would like to see enacted......sleep..............sleep......................they don't really mean any of that stuff...............lullabye and good night............don't worry they have your best interest at heart...............they would never do anything to you that you didn't agree with 100%....................sleep........sleep............

Not sure why its a bad idea to follow the Governments moves on this and any other topics of interest. The minute they think people aren't paying attention they will try to slide something in. The only reason not to pay attention to the rhetoric is if you: A) don't care or B) wouldn't be bothered by the actions being discussed.

Complacency is not the answer. They say it enough to get people used to hearing it and then when all the "noise" ceases, they figure they have either defeated you or you are bored and are looking in other directions. In either case its their cue to act. Vigilence is the key to curbing the abuse of power and the propagation of bad policy.

All that is necessary for Evil to Prosper is for the Good Man do Nothing.............. Go to sleep all of you.........pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.............

I'm glad you trust the left-wing mainstream media so much. I guess it's people like you who keep them in business.

And, by the way, if you read the link *I* posted, it says this has been in the works since January. What have you been doing about it since then? Huh?

I'm reading your posts on this and getting the feeling you are trying to discredit the notion that the current administration may be up to something. Simply because they have have circulated similar rumors in the past and may not have followed through, doesn't mean they mean no harm. They are talking for a reason and if we don't pay attention, we will only have ourselves to blame when unfavorable outcomes are a reality. I appreciate board members who keep up on topics and post what they find interesting/alarming. I don't wish to be asleep and want to make sure I'm tipped off to do my own research.

Yes, you are correct and you really got me on the spelling thing. Congratulations, that is another tactic to quiet the opposition - attack the form of the message, cast doubt on the person delivering it, thereby shaking the credibility of the content. Not sure what the spelling has to do with the arguement, but if that is where you choose to go..................Guilty as charged.
