Out of curiosity, why do statistics like this not come out to counter the anti's claims? I would think these numbers could be used in our favor when Stand Your Ground Legislation is being heard in committee?

Many of the SYG supporters are law enforcement (including bill author Chief Tony Cornish)

I don't get it. LEOs have nothing to be embarrassed about given their extremely low rate of POST revocations.

Stating that P2C holders are 13 times less likely to have their creds revoked doesn't change the fact that the % of LEOs who **** up is very, very low. They should be proud of how well they do, and should be happy to support the rights of those who are least likely to cause them problems...

Cornish, like many LEO, especially tman , have an elevated opinion of themselves over the lowly citizenry. I don't think they would not see it as "yours is low, ours is lower" but as us saying were better than cops. Heather could easily twist that into something to the effect of "Permit holders think they are better than law enforcement, and want to be the law".. blah blah.

PLUS... outside of Heather's dillusional rants, no one ever really questioned the capabilities or qualifications of permit holders. Most of the concerns brought up were officer safety related, and a long conversation between senators wondering if they would be shot for door knocking.

That demonstrates a lot when you make statements like this.

Demonstrates a lot of what Cobb? Complete your sentances.

For example, Cobb demonstrates a lack of ability to recognize tongue in cheek comments.

Oh I understand that this is the situation, I just don't get it. Just because I understand that some person or group of people insists on thinking irrationally doesn't mean I'm going to pretend to give a **** what their reasons for doing so are. I'm not going to help them avoid reality....

Note: I removed the names from the above quote - I don't know either of them, and therefore don't want to give the impression either should be included in the phrase "many LEOs"...

Again, I understand the concern, but don't care to support them in their irrationality. They need to realize that this law will have zero affect on whether or not any LEO would be "shot for door knocking". A "stand your ground" or "castle doctrine" law will not cause anyone to believe it is OK to shoot at LEOs, and no law will prevent anyone determined to shoot them from doing so.

I'm well past done with those who are under the impression that something said or written will prevent someone intent on taking any given action from doing so...

Tman is one LEO who has not at all lost his sense of humor or humility about his role in life, he will even tell you how hard it is to be humble when he wears those really shiny boots.........

What you read, Mr Cobb, is a very kind hearted dig at a friend of ours, it was followed by a smiley, which signified it was not really meant to be taken at face value, and it expressed a bit of back handed praise to Tman as well,

I hear what you're saying jgalt... It IS a valuable statistic, especially on televised debates with Heather... to discredit her.

If there were ever a case where a testifier or committee member made a comment to the effect of attitude, capabilities, or criminality of permit holders, I would have no quams whipping out the stat...

The risk is small, but there is a chance of offending our LEO allies... So it's not worth really using it unless it going to make an impact refuting someone.

It's a good card up our sleeves.

I would wager that the majority of LEO's in the field are in favor of carry and legislation that protects the victim and makes life suck/shorter for the perps.

But the guys in the field aren't the ones in charge of the MPPOA, the MCPA, the MSA, etc.

I stand corrected, wasn't the first time and won't be the last, sometime hard to tell with all BS that fly's around here.

I missed the smiley behind Cornish's name, didn't see one. I did see the smiley behind tman's name, did not know who he was and figured it was a friendly shot at him for one reason or another.

And RobD, get it right like 1911fan did, it's Mr Cobb when taking a shot at me.
