Would faith be involved in believing that nothing would exceed the speed of light? Would it take faith to believe what man's interpretation of what the speed of light is? Lets talk about the AGW religion for example. Would it take faith to believe that man is responsible for the earth warming?

It takes faith to "believe" anything. The word believe is in fact synonymous with "have faith in". What people believe about scientific matters is however irrelevant to the scientific process itself, which may eventually support or disprove whatever the current beliefs are as better data comes in.

Anyone but Obama Please. The economy will fix itself as things progress, unless of course you have a whitehouse that continues to hand out entitlements.

I see this has also turned into a joke thread?

I agree in part, except of course that anyone other than Ron Paul WILL continue to hand out entitlements. Remember Bush?

It's a shame that its come to this. The Liberals have created a entitlement mentality in this country and most republicans are liberals in right wing clothing. :(
It's natural for people to do whats easiest. getting something for free from the government certainly is. I'm just tired of these lazy azzhats hanging off my tax tit.

I've always worked 60+ hours a week. Been raising a low functioning autistic child for 11 years now, without handouts from your tax dollars. However her mother passed away this month, I'm surely going to be needing some government funded assistance to get through this. So I guess that puts me in the lazy azzhat group now eh?

So at this point, I could keep working my azz off, take a little assistance from SS, SSI, funding for a PCA for my daughter and keep being a productive member of society. Or I could quit my job and go full on welfare, food stamps, all the handouts I can get, etc... things aren't always as black as white as some of you people seem to think. In the holiday spirit I sure hope you never have a tragedy in your life that requires you to get any assistance from other peoples tax dollars. And if you ever do end up in that situation I sure hope you appreciate that you live in a country where most of the people's attitudes are more reasonable and compassionate than yours.

Back to Ron Paul, people like him would rather that I just piss off and go away because it's not his problem. I don't think I'd call him a racist, I think he dislikes all poor people the same amount, black, white, brown, red or yellow.

Happy Holidays :)

Sometimes people do legitimately need help, the libertarian viewpoint is however that charity should be voluntary, and thus they are unwilling to rob Peter to pay, well, you. I can be in favor of helping the misfortunate while being uncomfortable with appropriating someone else's money to do it.

Sorry for your loss. I think you know what I meant by lazy azzhats. Certainly not the unfortunate hard working people that need some assistance until they can get back on their feet.
The career lazy Azzhats is who I am speaking of. The type that figure having another kid will give them a bigger payday. or the type that haven't seen a job application for years.

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like you're a dedicated hard working guy. That's very honorable. I hope things turn around for you and I hope you're having a good Christmas.

I don't think that Ron Paul or most other Libertarians what you to just piss off and go away to suffer alone. I think most of us are exceedingly compassionate and just believe that society and individuals can handle problems like yours better when coercive government gets out of the way and individuals are free to voluntarily cooperate without gov interference.

Actually, Ron Paul would take a much different approach than you appear to think. It used to be that Government was the safety net of Last Resort, it is now the sfety net of first resort. He looks to turn that back around. It used to be that when people were in trouble they would look to their immediate family, then extended family, then local church/charity, then Co and State Gov, and finally Fed Government. Heck when SS was started, that is the way it was, and it worked quite well. Who better to understand your needs than the ppeople closest to you....The federal Gov, is furthest from you. Do you know how many charities used to be around, compared to today? The federal gov has crowded them out. People now go directly to government for charity. It is sad, but peoples own families don't want to help. Part of the reason is because the Government does provide, it also TAKES....and people don't feel the need to be charitable anymore because they think their tax dollars go to that, and they gave enough allready. This just makes the problem worse, requiring Government to do even more. This needs to be turned around. Under a Ron Paul administration, you would probabbly get more help than you do now, because there would be more funds available for the truely needy, because he would be spending so much less on EVERYTHING!
