The way John Marty (DFL) talks this bill somehow makes murdering a cop legal.

Did I miss the language change making shooting an announced police officer legal?

Woo Hoo!

Today, the Minnesota Senate passed House Bill 1467 by a 40 to 23 vote. This important reform legislation, sponsored by state Senator Gretchen Hoffman (R-10) and state Representative Tony Cornish (R-24B), will now be sent back to the state House of Representatives for its concurrence, before being sent to Governor Mark Dayton for his consideration.  The House vote on concurrence is expected to take place this Monday, February 27.

90 in House and 45 in Senate needed to override veto.

It's time to be gracious.

Thank those who voted for this bill.

Personally thank the Senator Hoffman for putting her name and reputation on the line in the face of the anti-fact onslaught she faced. You may not think it was perfect but it was a lot better than what they allowed me to say on the Senate floor (nothing)

Personally thank the out state Democrats who went against their caucus to support this bill.

Personally thank the co-authors of this bill and those who spoke favorably of it in committee

Calmly and politely express our displeasure with Sen Michel's defection.

I sent all my e-mails already. I'll follow up with a couple phone calls. I'm still trying to decide how to word my communication with the Governor's office but that has a little time yet since the bill has to get to him after going back to the house for comparison IIRC.

Sent email to both.

FYI

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

sen.david.hann@senate.mn.us

Technical details of permanent failure:
DNS Error: Domain name not found

I don't think the .us is supposed to be on the end of his email.

you're correct, I apologize. Hann also uses the form so a direct e-mail may not work.

Replies so far:

Thank you for writing me about the proposed bill on Castle Doctrine. I too am a strong supporter of our Second Amendment rights. Minnesotans have the right to protect themselves and their property. As you know, the bill was passed on the Senate floor by a vote of 40 to 23 on February 23 and I voted yes. It is now awaiting Governor Dayton’s approval.

Again, thank you for writing about this issue. Please feel free to contact me about any further issues in the future.

My best,

Michelle

Senator Michelle Benson

Thank you for the email! Your support means allot. We are proud of the work we did on HF1467. Please contact me anytime.

Best regards,
Gretchen Hoffman
