What a huge disappointment after going through this last year only to have it put on hold, now it passes all the way and bam, he slaps in the face.

Maybe we start calling our state reps and tell them to NOT support his stadium project.

Time to start emailing your representitives if they didn't vote for it, and see if we can get the Veto overridden.

Gov. Dayton vetoed HF 1467 by letter.

Please read it for yourself:

Only way to get it passed now is majority in House and Senate. I think five more votes for both the House and Senate might be possible.

If not this session, next session perhaps?

It won't come up again in an election year. The (R)'s get to say "Against all odds, we tried", and the (D)'s get to say "Yea, we stopped it". All the politicians get their own voter base approval, and they can move on and dodge this one until after November or later. People who care about this topic aren't going to suddenly switch parties based on the outcome. I know I wouldn't have voted Dayton next time around if he had signed it. The liberal chick at work isn't going to suddenly vote (R) next time if the (R)'s somehow voted against it. There are no voters on either side to win or lose regardless of the outcome as long as it is run through the system and everyone acts as expected.

Regardless... if someone breaks into my home, my first duty isn't to retreat - it's to protect my family... not just the home either, that goes for anywhere I am with them. I'm having a hard time with this veto from Dayton, there was always a part of me that thought this just had to pass.

Nothing's changed.

Feel free to defend yourself within the limits of the current law, the same as you could yesterday.

It will never come up! Not enough to start!

BTW, I would like to thank all of you that voted for the third party candidate Tom Horner.

Actually, I blame the people who voted for Emmer in the primary. Republicans put up a subpar candidate in what had to have been one of the best electoral opportunity in the last decade for a republican governor. Elections have consequences.

Putting up the guy who tosses out the most red meat for party diehards may be satisfying, but if your candidate is watching the inauguration on tv? That makes the next four years suck.

I don't blame Dayton for this. He acted according to his principles. It's not like he campaigned on getting this passed and then went back on his word. He actually used the term cop-killer bullets while campaigning for pete's sake.

Maybe take this into account when it comes time to pick a gubernatorial candidate.

The legislature of our elected representatives passed it. The will of the people has NOT been carried out. I will defend myself and my family irrespective of the veto. How much justice can I afford? I'm really not worried about that right now.I am just angry.

Rep. Tony Cornish, a Republican from Good Thunder, said the opposition stemmed from the executives of law enforcement organizations "not the rank and file." He said that the measure may take some time to become law but it will be back.

I think we should remind the people who voted for this that we appreciate what they're doing (and not just Mr. Cornish and Ms. Hoffman).
