I think you overestimate "this country"! :?

... most of 'em voted osama in! ... most of the rest refuse to so much as join the NRA 'cause "it's a scam"!

In my own neighborhood of about 100 people, I doubt we'd need more than one vehicle to carpool to wherever the riot might take place?!

... which begs the question ... with the majority of gun-owners in the suburbs and beyond, where exactly would we riot? ... please don't say Minneapolis ... I can never find my way back onto the freeway! :(

I think that some of the powers that be are quite aware of the fact that far less than 50% of the colonists participated in the Revolutionary War.

FAR less.

I don't disagree with you 2 on this, however, we do have one thing that they didn't back then...the internet. Its a repressive governments foe as well as friend. But to actually whip that many people up into a frenzy to go through that type of revolution? Don't believe it would happen. But I do have access to a lake place if ever necessary.

The thing with a U.N. treaty is that while all the rogue nations will ignore it, you can bet the USA will enforce it with vigor just to show the world how "fair and upright" we are. That's assuming it passes in the first place, and if Obama gets re-elected you can bet he and Hillery Clinton will try to weasel it through any way they can, Congress be damned.

People sure are worked up over this.

So...what are the terms of this UN arms treaty?

Dick Morris was on Hanity's radio show this afternoon and he had an interesting opinion. Morris believes that Hillary will sign this treaty July 27th and Stymie and company will try to ratify it in a back door move. His opinion was that all pending treaties are enforceable as long as they are not renounced by the President or by a 2/3rds majority of the Senate. Therefore if harry Reid blocks a vote on the Senate floor the treaty will become de-facto ratified.

In my opinion, Article 2 section 2 of the Constitution is clear, but with the current make up of the SCOUS who knows?
He (the President) shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur;

Either way I think this move would be political suicide for the democrats.

The Dems won't try anything until AFTER Obama is re-elected.

This is one thing he promised the antigunners he would do.

You watch, if he's re-elected, we're in for more shocking events.

We have to realize that once the ink is dry on Hillary’s signature, there are only two ways to beat the Treaty and its threat of UN imposed gun control – take back the Senate or beat Obama.
The fact that the NRA has succeeded in getting fifty-eight Senators to sign on opposing the Treaty is irrelevant. If Harry Reid won’t bring it up on the floor, it won’t get a vote. And, in the absence of Senate disapproval or a renunciation by the president, the United States is bound by the Treaty under the provisions of the Vienna Convention which we have both signed and ratified.

So how would they enforce it? UN police driving through neighborhoods trying to collect guns? I don't think that would go very well for them.

According to Morris, under the Supremacy Clause any treaty or pending treaty has the equivalence of a Constitutional Amendment.
