Spend your time worrying about the future of the supreme court. That is where the real dander lies. The House isn't about to pass any strong anti-gun laws, as they are all up for reelection next year.

That's why I don't like people talking about gun rights, and then in the next breath just demonizing Democrats generally.

Perhaps they need to leave it out of their platform then. ;)

I ain't so sure 'bout that, no more?! ... the last AWB expired 8yr ago ... almost anyone under 30yr has no experience with paying inflated prices fer used mags! ... or dealing with a pinned comp!

"Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it."

A lotta people seem to have a very short memory! ... coupled with the fact that they probly don't spend a great deal of time talking about the '94 AWB in our public schools! ... and the arguments I've personally had with gun-owners regarding what we should be able to own, and how we should be able to shoot it! ...

... ya know what I'd like to see?! ... quotes from everyone discussing the likelihood of such a ban, on the interlinks, from 1990 - 1994! ;)

Dick Unger wrote:Both parties have outragous positions on hat button issues in the platforms. When in office, they'll do kind of what their friends want. What we need to do is to convince the Dems that their gun stuff doesn't work, and that it's bad politics. The rural Dems get that. Problem is places like Chicago. Most kids in Chicago grow up without any exposure to guns, unless they get robbed or join a gang. So, likely VOTERS, have a hard time relating to their 2A rights.

That's why I don't like people talking about gun rights, and then in the next breath just demonizing Democrats generally. We LOSE our most important supporters (the rual democrats who can change this situation) when we trash talk them.

Gun rights are for EVERYONE, not just right wing FOX talkers. Let's play the game to win, not just to make more noise.

Well said. I would also add that there are a fair number of folks like me--urban, liberal, gun-lovers who support gun rights as fervently as anyone else does.

I also think there are far fewer anti-gun folks than most people think..the problem is that laws in this country are passed by a small minority of people supporting an even smaller minority of funders who demand new laws as either an emotional reaction to some event or because it makes them money (or both). On that count, conservatives are no better than liberals. Rhetoric aside, both parties do the same stupid crap for the same stupid reasons. Their "party planks" are irrelevant.

As I always say, I own guns because when the SHTF I don't want conservatives to be the only ones with guns.

That would seem to be a highly arguable point, and not even the country's majority opinion at the moment.

From an ideology standpoint Romney might not have been my first choice, but there was no one in the Republican primary race that I wouldn't vote for in preference to Obama. including Romney.

If you're saying that politics is inimical to leadership, I doubt any reasonable person would disagree.

We can worry about the court, but we can't do anything about it. Obama will fill it with his choices during his next term.

I'm not Not discriminating- Those groups support the democrats, it's a fact. Not all elderly, But a majority.

wow, misinformed and a discriminating *sshole. I just love how people like you continue to follow the Republican meme of demonizing the Left and blaming everyone else for your problems. You spout BS rhetoric about your guns being taken away when Obama has done nothing of the sort, yet you continue to swallow the lies being spoonfed to you by the Right. You're either incredibly stupid or you're just being willfully ignorant. I'm inclined to believe you're a bit of both. I know one thing is certain, if you morons get your way and Romney is elected, this country is really f*cked.

Depends on which way the wind is blowing.

In 2004 it was blowing this way:
