not sure why an alternative lifestyle should be considered a treasure and a conventional lifestyle is boring and unproductive. Except for the "look at me, look at me - I'm special" maladjusted egos that appear to need constant feeding and seem to, all too often, end tragically. that some in the alternative lifestyle movement call attention to themselves and claim to be icons or rebels, I guess is cute, but in the end many of them are just children who can't handle the rigors of everyday society, never grow up and never got over that mommy and daddy never hugged them enough. Creative, yes.......Gods, Goddesses and admirable - usually not. People who don't use heroin have written great music, books, invented things, wrote poetry etc. - they just don't often go on stage drunk and high, get arrested for assault or show up on reality showes to get their egos fed. My opinion is its sad and quite a waste of great talent and intellect. The worship of alternative lifestyles is understandable - I guess everyone wants to feel like they have an escape from reality and believe those who take it to extremes and still produce something are role models - that is sad and when we deify these people we hold up examples for generations of exactly who they shouldn't be. These people had talent - problem is most of those who worship these false gods and choose to emulate their alternative lifestyle don't, so they just end up on the margins of society. Seems glamorous until you find them in a pool of their own vomit and feces. But hey - better to burn out, than fade away - right...? I understand that some of you may have grown up as Punkers or Baldies or whatever counter culture group you thought you belonged to, but I wonder how many of you had to grow up and get a job - cut your hair - get insurance - buy a house - get married - pay taxes etc etc - all those things you railed against in your youth. If you didn't change your lifestyle, where would you be today - would you be a 30 something punker with a mohawk bouncing from flop house to flophouse, partying your brains out? Chances are you saw that it wasn't a sustainable lifestyle, so you joined the Suits and grew up. If an alternative lifestyle is so appealing - you should live it, just don't ask me to subsidize your irresponsible behavior.
As for the homosexual lifestyle, I agree with some others here that they already have the rights, under the Government, to a civil union, they can sign whatever contracts they wish. And given the Communities own estimates their population to be about 4%to6% of the overall population of this country, I'd say they are heavily over represented in our society. As was said, its not enough that you tolerate their existence, you must agree, celebrate and support their views otherwise you are a biggot. With a 6% representation in society and the exposure they get, who is forcefeeding whom their view of the world. Media saturation and over loading the classrooms to push the agenda is a tactic outlined by Sol Alinsky and his merry (or should I say Gay) band of followers. The subversive techniques are often code named "Change Agent Skills" but they can be used by whatever fringe group that adopts them to make the issue appear larger than it actually is and forcefeed the agenda to the masses. Just kinda sucks when the Non Alternative Lifestyle folks try to use the same tactics and somehow that doesn't seem fair - they are biggots - see that there is called reframing the debate - its no longer about the original merits - you put your opponent on the defensive and make it about them not the issue.
