Life.

... no thanks to kimono king!

FWIW, some folks like to trash talk the NRA ... they think it makes 'em sound like they know what they're talkin' about! ... all it does, is serves the antis' goal! ... the less folks in the NRA, the less scary they are in D.C. ... without that, we're the U.K., Australia, Canada, 'er worse!

Bottom line, if yer not a member of the NRA, ya deserve 10rd mags, a pinned/welded comp, an A2 stock, and a 12 EEEE up yer ass! :hammer:

I'm not a member.

But I do appreciate some of their work.

I'm a life member as I mentioned. I also think that your NRA or nothing approach is counter productive. I can't quite get down with everything the GOA does but I've been very pleased with the results SAF has gotten and more than a little pissed when the NRA issues press releases claiming sole responsibility. United we stand, divided we fall works both ways Rugersol.

Point of fact, what I DID say was, anyone who otherwise says "I'm joining <whatever> because the NRA is too <whatever>!" is ... shall we say, counter productive?! ;)

Life member. Bought my son a life membership for his 18th two years ago.
Anyone that wants to protect their second amendment rights should be a member. The NRA is the largest group to protect our rights and we need all the we can get now.

How is anyone joining one group another with the similar goals counter productive?

I don't want to give the NRA my money, just like I try not to buy things in Hennepin county because I don't want to pay for the stupid Vikings stadium.

In reality I'm still paying for it, just like it helps our gun manufacturers protect our rights ever time a new gun gets purchased..

I believe in the NRA's main goal, I just don't like how they go about doing so.

If they were the only group out there then yes I would have no choice but luckily we live in a country that gives us the freedom to choose..
I'm not down with the republican party, or the democratic party. I represent the MI6

Good! ... join!

The Lance wrote: I just don't like how they go about doing so.

^^^^ counter productive!

... it helps to convince other folks they shouldn't join ... maybe go to http://vpc.org ... I'm sure they got something more than jest "don't like how they <whatever>!"

Here's a thought! ... if ya don't like HOW the NRA does something, JOIN! ... as a member, write letters to the BOD! ... run fer the BOD! ... if ya think they're gonna change how they operate, 'cause some non-member don't like it, I got bad news fer ya!

So join something you don't want to join just so you can change them from within?

That is the worst advice I've ever seen on this forum.

Comin' from you, I'll take that as a compliment!

... BTW, apparently if ya don't like what's been goin' on at OGC, don't join, don't challenge the BOD, and don't ever run fer the BOD ... according to Heffay!

Right. My dad didn't join specifically because of their membership rule. Instead, he took his business elsewhere. Not everyone wants to spend the effort to change something from within. Sometimes we just want a place to shoot free of hassles, and will spend our money there.
