Wow man. That just sucks. Not cool. Sucks to be a New Yorker! Am I right? Those poor bastards. Serves them right though for voting those idiots into office. NY has been a lost cause for a long time. Same with NJ and CA and CT will be next.
Mmmmm.......know what's interesting though about NY? They pretty much have one county (it's really the four largest boroughs that make up what everyone outside of New York calls New York city - which, if not confusing enough, sits atop four counties) that control that state. Doesn't matter what the other rural counties do or how they vote because that area makes up about half the states population. It's very similar to Minnesota and Hennepin county. One county pretty much throws all the others around however it wants. Being that Minnesota is a progressive state that will always be either blue or purple, but never red, I'm thinking that we are in a precarious situation.
Oh, and I'm not an ass. My stomach turned last night when that bill passed and I was filled with contempt at the politicians that would treat those who wish to partake in their RIGHT of the Second Amendment as criminals.
It reminds me of the story about the frog and the boiling water. We are not going to wake up one day to find that we have to turn in all of our weapons. We will have been giving them up piece by piece for awhile until they are just gone. The guns can dry up in this country given enough time and laws and Executive Orders. Given enough mass shootings and enough intentional neglect to the real issues it is entirely possible that we will be alive to see it happen.
There is little that we can do right now other than pay attention to what happens next. The other shoe has yet to drop. If you want to keep the 2A intact you need to become an activist for it and not just post in gun forums - not saying that's all everyone is doing. The NRA is not your only option. There are other national Second Amendment organizations that you can support. Find out what companies and products are anti-2A and stop supporting them. When you vote, don't skip those judges. Educate yourself on their record. Most of these anti-2A laws will go before the State courts.
Alright, rant off.
