I have things that I have to do in the morning, and doubt I will make it there by noon. How long of an event is this, is it going to be worth it if I come a little late?

Is there going to be a carpool from the OCB and back? I could fit 4, 5 if the back's loaded with the thinner crowd.

Can someone refresh me on the best way to go about notifying the capitol? And the odds of me receiving a confirmation in time?

Someone reported they e-mailed the commissioner and received confirmation from her iPad at 6:45 in the AM one morning ...

My usual advice is to send two letters, one in a SASE. Ask them to stamp receipt and sign the SASE copy and drop it in the mail. Seems to have worked well for people. Unfortunately, you don't have the 7 ish days that would have to take to transit ...

Since this is on Saturday and I'd really want a piece of physical proof ... Find a buddy who has given notice and buddy up or lock it in the vehicle ... That's what I did my first time down there before I had given notice.

I keep that receipt reply letter in my truck. I've only been to the capitol once or twice but been to the MN History Center a few times a year... which happens to be on capitol grounds.

(for the grammar nuts.)

This is not legal advice and I am not a lawyer:

The law only states that you must send them notification. If you send it snail-mail, send it registered certified mail. Your postal receipt and/or signature receipt, along with a dated copy of your notification letter should be enough to prove that you have sent notification, but it does kind of depend on the capital police. If you are stopped and asked, having a copy of your notification letter and postal receipt should be enough for them to realize that are are the good guy and have complied with the law.

FWIW. I sent mine via e-mail on Monday and received stamped confirmation today.

I think the proper type of mail would be 'Certified / Return Receipt Requested' "registered" IIRC is a separate mail stream for valuables like Rolex Watches, everybody that touches the package signs for it. useful for valuables not necessary for documents :)

No if you're not there by noon you'll miss us. This should only take about 15 minutes...

Really?..... Doesn't show much for fortitude if you plan on bailing after 15 minutes. At least stick it out for an hour. I didn't organize a bus full of 20 people to drive 2 1/2 hours (one-way) for a 15 minute demo.

This in no way competes with this weekends Rally. I know I will be supporting both as will many of my friends and family but as promised here is the flier for the Feb 8th event!
