Replied first thing this morning after I sent him an email last night.
Hello Gregg. The discussion on mass shootings has certainly picked up. Whenever children are involved, emotions run high. I have been receiving many emails / phone calls / visits and letters similar to your's. I appreciate your input and concern and I can assure you my focus is on public safety in Wright County. I and the majority of the other Minnesota Sheriffs (Minnesota Sheriff's Association) also would like the discussion to focus on mental illness as we are in agreement that no sane person harms children, such as occurred in Connecticut. There are serious loopholes in our criminal history and commitment data bases as we are all learning. These need attention.
The Wright County Sheriff's Office has and continues to issue permits to carry and purchase to law abiding, qualified citizens and it is rare we experience an incident of any unlawful nature with our permit holders. As far as next week, I assume you are referring to the President's visit to Minnesota? I will not be in attendance however collectively the Mn Sheriff's Association recently took a position which is basically in agreement with your concern.
