Smith and Wesson now has auto letter to politicians

Similar to Ruger's letter. Takes 2 minutes and an easy way to send the message to them.

I like it.

It was quick and easy.

And it went to everybody from Obama on down to my local MN legislators.

Quick and easy means ineffectual and easily ignored. Write a letter, on paper, shove it in an envelope, and send it by post. Sure, that'll probably be ignored as well, but it will take up physical space and maybe they'll acknowledge its existence before throwing it in the trash.

Might be ignored, but the number of signatures on the document will NOT be ignored. I guarantee you they are counting those.

Odds are that most of us won't hear back from Frankenberry I never have yet any time I have written him on anything. I get the impression he thinks I'm beneath him.

Yes. In an issue like this, it's volume that counts, not content. I see people writing long, passionate emails and letters to their representatives. It might make us feel better to express our thoughts in written form, but I guarantee that nobody is reading them. But they are tallying up "For" and "Against".

None of us are going to persuade these people based on any rational argument we try to make on the issues. What will persuade them is the number of people whom they see will likely vote against them in their next election. They don't care what you think. They care how you will vote.

This is a very clever concept from S&W. I urge everone to take the 30 seconds necessary to fill it out.

Looks like Ruger licensed or gave S&W their code.

Either way, I like it.

Thanks,

Oh my God I actually got a reply from Frankenberry kinda what I was expecting But more than what I've gotten before

Thank you for submitting your message to my U.S. Senate office. Each week, several thousand Minnesotans send me their thoughts and suggestions on legislation and important issues facing our nation. This impressive volume is a testament to the Minnesotan traditions of grassroots activism and civic participation that distinguish our state. I closely track the concerns that are expressed in your letters and emails, and will answer them as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Al Franken
United States Senator

I like how S&W snuck the Mayor of their city into the mailing list.
