I've always received a response when contacting senators.

I'm not sure what you're doing, but maybe you could show us the content of your messages?

I don't know if he is better than you, but he is a Senator and you don't get there by accident. He may actually be incredibly talented and smart. You may be better than him though. What are your qualifications?

I've received a few of these and nothing else from him:

Thank you for submitting your message to my U.S. Senate office. Each week, several thousand Minnesotans send me their thoughts and suggestions on legislation and important issues facing our nation. This impressive volume is a testament to the Minnesotan traditions of grassroots activism and civic participation that distinguish our state. I closely track the concerns that are expressed in your letters and emails, and will answer them as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Al Franken

United States Senator

Interesting viewpoint. Mark Dayton always looks like he's surprised he's Governor. He almost looks like he was up all night drinking and then someone said, HEY YOU'RE A GOVERNOR TODAY! Perhaps that position requires less qualifications than a Senator. Maybe some acting and comedy background to get it right.

Well, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Underestimating your opponent is often a fatal mistake.

I got a response ~2 weeks after I contacted him. It wasn't hours/days like with the rest of my reps.

Probably very accurate.

I'm sure there are people on this forum who voted for the "Three Stooges" that we now have in office because they couldn't bear to vote for a Republican.

Well, he just won by the skin of his teeth last time, so I'm sure he'll being watching the numbers with some precision.

He really can't afford to turn any gun-owning Democrats into Republicans or he's toast in his attempt to get re-elected.

By the way, no need to trash any politician here, especially Dayton.

He's a damned good man. Also, he's the guy who could veto a marginal bill.

Everybody should think carefully about it before anybody plays macho with the stupid and pointless personal insults.

I would agree, except he's a coauthor on Feinstein's bill. That's like tying your career to a boat anchor, in my opinion.

I do think that we need to treat all these people with the respect that comes with the office they hold. If we insult them, they will react the same way we would if they insulted us (directly, I mean).
