That's not even 9 posts a day, which might take up ten minutes of his time. Check out XDM's stats, and consider the unusual volume of his posts.

Jumping in front of a moving train is less dangerous (legally speaking) than using your gun is. You may be a hero in both cases, but not before you go to jail and have to prove your innocence for using your gun, even justifiably so.

All things being equal (unwilling participant element in particular), I hope that if the time ever comes I have the moral courage to step in to save a stranger's life.

Morals are very subjective, especially when you call into question another's vs. your own. "Well, if I were there and X happened, I'd do Y". Well, you weren't, so you can't. No one can say for certain what they will do until something happens. It's easier to have an attitude of moral superiority when there's no risk in doing so. Rather than say "I will defend a stranger" and then not do so if the time comes, I am merely being honest in saying "I'm effen outta there asap. Yer on yer own buddy." At least you know I'm not going to try and be some hero.

If I save the life of a stranger, it will be in the defense of my own. If I can deescalate, escape, or otherwise avoid the situation, those are my choices before the last resort.

It's called covering your ASS-ets. I have too much to risk and lose. Feel free to gamble with your own life and don't judge me for how I live mine.

You really expect to not be judged after posting endless "walls of text" judging other people on a public forum.

That's something.

Have I judged some people for being a-holes on here? Yup.
Have others judged me the same? Yup.

Welcome to Earth. You must be new here. :)-

Do I judge someone for not wanting to defend another or for defending them? Nope.
Do I judge them for using a Glock, driving a certain car, working in a certain industry? Nope.

We ALL judge to some degree. Some people do it more than others, some people do it on some things but not others, to certain people and not others, meh. Life's unfair. Deal. We all do.

As I said, it's about covering my own butt. If other people want to put theirs on the line and risk it all, go for it. Matters not to I. It's not that I don't have morals and ethics and don't want to help someone in trouble, but it's like feeding the neighborhood while you starve.... and then they sue you for food poisoning because they got sick when all you were trying to do is help them. Now you'd be better off letting them starve because they just sued your butt, took everything you have and now YOU'RE the one starving....and do THEY help YOU out??? No way!! See ya!!

The problem we live in a litigious society and everyone is "sue happy". I'm simply choosing to protect myself as I'm sure most of us here would do the same. The only difference is I will admit it. I will admit such things, but most others won't. It's like when you say you don't want kids and people look at you like some monster, but deep down inside you know some of them wish they were you and kid-free as well.

You or anyone doesn't have to like my choices or my honesty about them. Do as you will, and so will I.

I get life, trust me.

I also judge people all the time. No apologies.

But unlike you, I have never said to any one, much less an entire web forum "don't judge me by how I live mine".

Unless that's not what you meant to say.

The worst part is that I would very much like to know more about this topic and Martens' association with other people / organizations and well as where their funding dollars come from.

80% of their annual funds come from a grant from the Joyce Foundation. the rest of the donors are unknown. They are too small to have to reveal much of this.

Some protect MN board members:

Heather Martens (you knew that)
Joan Peterson, Duluth, who is also on the Brady Campaign board.
Mary Lewis Grow, Northfield, who is the "gun control lobbyist" for the Minnesota League of Women Voters.

They are also affiliated with what was the "One Million Moms" chapter for Minnesota - now called "Moms for Common Gun Sense" or something like that. Joan Kay is their leader here in MN.

They will all be at the hearings this week spreading their crap.

What else would you like to know? I have IRS filings on Protect MN and their legal entity "citizens for a safer minnesota" going back about a decade - along with other information.
