Don't lock, just delete all past post #1. =P

The worst part is that I would very much like to know more about this topic and Martens' association with other people / organizations and well as where their funding dollars come from.

80% of their annual funds come from a grant from the Joyce Foundation. the rest of the donors are unknown. They are too small to have to reveal much of this.

Some protect MN board members:

Heather Martens (you knew that)
Joan Peterson, Duluth, who is also on the Brady Campaign board.
Mary Lewis Grow, Northfield, who is the "gun control lobbyist" for the Minnesota League of Women Voters.

They are also affiliated with what was the "One Million Moms" chapter for Minnesota - now called "Moms for Common Gun Sense" or something like that. Joan Kay is their leader here in MN.

They will all be at the hearings this week spreading their crap.

What else would you like to know? I have IRS filings on Protect MN and their legal entity "citizens for a safer minnesota" going back about a decade - along with other information.

register (it's free) and then search for "citizens for a safer minnesota" and you will get it. As Bryan said, not much info beyond what he already provided because they don't get enough in revenues.

It's late - here's a few places to go dig this up:

http://990finder.foundationcenter.org/9 ... ction=Find

They're way below the detailed filing guidelines, so you need to go look at the Joyce Foundation's reports to see the contributions

http://www.joycefdn.org/programs/gun-vi ... -grantees/

You can go through their annual reports and IRS filings to find the other specific donations.

you can also use Guidestar (as recommended above) - it's more extensive, but requires registration, etc.

One thing I don't understand is, she said during the hearings that she comes from a gun-owning and hunting family. Yet, the bills that she was in favor of would affect her own family. That's some serious coolaid she's drinking. Or.... someone that's willing to sell their soul to the devil for a little extracurricular time with river_boater.....

You seek logic and reason where there is none to be found.
My take on her is she started acting out because of the death of a close relative, and now she's important and likes that.

Look at the last few lines of this article, although the entire thing is a good read:

https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/legal- ... mbers%20(4)&utm_content=

From the article:

But on the local level, we are likely to see more Bloomberg-style support of anti-gun groups in your state. Thankfully, most states have some sort of government Campaign Finance agency, requiring all lobbying organizations to report their donations and expenditures. Since it is a matter of public record, you should be able to look at the books of every anti-gun organization in your state.

It can be an illuminating exercise. Not only might you be surprised at WHO is funding your local anti-gun organizations, it is also an excellent source of ammunition to give your friends at your state’s legislature.

Imagine a pro-gun-rights committee member asking a gun control advocate at a public hearing: “Ms. Jones, could you tell us why 80% of your funding comes from out-of-state anti-gun groups?”
