Pass some test to own a firearm?
Your last response is presented as an opinion, which you are certainly entitled to, whether or not I agree, your earlier post appears to state it as fact, which is false.

I am speaking in practical terms, not advocating legal requirements. "average" is vague, I agree, and perhaps it is better to say: I believe gun owners should practice responsibility, maturity and safety. I don't believe this should be legislated, but certainly taught and encouraged. Maybe you disagree?

But yes, I did state it as a fact, when really it is just my opinion.

I agree.

gun control in this country is very much linked to slavery. The first gun control laws were put in place to keep slaves from owning guns - that's just a fact, so equating the two is not really a reach.

The way I see it- Every organization or collection of people who share a common interest will contain outliers - Radicals on either end of the spectrum. Because of the postions they take, their passion and the realization that they are on the fringe and wanting to incite others to share their viewpoint could make them more vocal and more extreme seeming to the the others in the continuum. Its just a social dynamic that you cannot control - so why try - control yourself and your actions to the level you wish and stop trying to tell others what is appropriate conduct. The First Amendment is important - that is why the Founding Fathers gave us the Second.

The bottom line: if you are on any list and the Blue Helmet/DHS storm troopers come get your weapons- it won't matter how nice you have been online - it may make a difference in what order you are put on the priority for disarmament, but they aren't going to pass you by if their intent is to disarm the general public. if they have made the decision to confiscate weapons, it is not in their best interest to leave certain catagories of gun owners alone. It is an all or nothing proposition at that point - I doubt it will come to that - almost impossible to do so without massive bloodshed. The more likely situation is that they will make owning the weapon so expensive that the majority of people will agree to give them up - annual taxes, increase liability insurance premiums, health care surcharges, taxes on ammo etc.

You have more in common with him than either of you would like to admit based on that statement ;)

Well, that was mean. Is this your online persona, or are you mean like this in person?
